I was just posting somewhere about musicians dying off as I get older which reminds me that none of us will be here forever.
Apart from your children, what proof will there be in a hundred years time that you ever existed? What contribution to the world will you leave behind?

Jillll: I don't think it's sad at all. Yes, anyone can pop out out a kid but it takes a real parent to love and nurture them, and to impart your values and beliefs. I think that is a far more important legacy than a poem or magazine article. If it is more important for you leave behind tangible evidence of your existence here on earth, I will in no way way ridicule you for that and support you in whatever way you wish to be remembered.
100 years from now your grandchildren will not be here. AGAIN...I specifically said apart from your children? What is your problem with the English language?

A helluva lot of internet forum debate, apparently...
If everyone had to to leave behind, a meaningful contribution while living in this planet, then this planet had to be advanced, thousands of years ahead,of what it is at this present moment.

I'd like think that something I've designed & built will be keeping the lights on and heating homes in 100 years time. Although not very likely given the pace of change, by then my efforts would be a mere shell at most.

I do stained glass that is weird and unique. I gave my relatives a bunch. When we're all dead, the younger generations in the family will hoard all the glass. That will be the thing they keep. I make fairy dolls too. They're super cool but they might rot or discolor or fall apart. The stained glass will last a lot longer. The stained glass could get passed down over centuries, hoarded in people's dresser drawers wrapped in washcloths, gathering dust in China Cabinets.
