Why do i feel so empty and depressed often. I am 22 i am student, i work i am very shy but i do have friends, anyways i feel really lonly and sad! It feels like i am not happy doing what i am doing? What should i do?? How can i take depress out of my life???

I'd go talk to a professional..... maybe there is an underlying problem that you are not aware of why you are feeling this way.... If you are not happy doing what your doing maybe time for a change?? what does your heart tell you???? Go talk to someone professional ... good luck
I too get depressed and feel alone, sometimes when things seem to be going real well. The trick is to find someone or something that takes you out of your life for short periods of time. I'm not saying a boyfriend or whatever, just a friend or a hobby, something out of your comfort zone a bit but that you have fun with too. Sometimes wee just need a little vacation from our own little world to put things into perspective. If you are severely depressed and just can't take it, I recommend talking to someone, maybe a professional to help sort things out.

According to your post,you seem privilegied,and believe me,there are people much less fortunate that you,-but instead of complaining,they´ll do something about it...

We are walking chemical reactions. Every thought, every breath, every movement is rooted in chemical reactions.
A lack of happiness very often can be due to a chemical imbalance, but it doesn't necessarily mean that medication is the way to correct it.
It could be changing diet, identifying allergens, reducing stress, changing thoughts and behaviours, getting enough sunshine, increasing exercise, change of routine...all sorts of things that have nothing to do with a pill, but everything to do with chemical imbalances.

Dear Sadgirl, Maybe you are just overworked or overloaded . If you both work and are a student then I can understand the delema . You also state that you are shy and that also isn't helping the situation .
You probably just need a break to get yourself together again . If you have friends then have a little fun with them . If not then see about getting some . I also do not know what you are studying but next semester take a serious and realistic look at time and workload . You are only 22 so you dont need to get everything done at once .
I don't thin you should seeks for someone that "compleates you" since you're already compleate and have everything you need to be happy... look for someone that walks through life with u...
Keep your thoughts positive, you can control them. Step by step.
Sometimes we all feel this way. Even when I had my perfect job, there were days I just didn't want to get up and go. If you can work thru it just know it can be common. If it becomes so that you just can't function and and just cannot work thru it, it's time to consult a professional.
YOU AND I BOTH KNOW IT IS VERY DIFICULT TO LIVE IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. ESPECIALLY FOR A WOMAN.
WHILE I HAVE RECENTLY WATCHED A YOUNG WOMAN, WITH SIMILAR ISSUES, TRY UNSUCESSFULLY TO GET HELP WITH SCIENCE. PERHAPS WHAT YOU NEED IS A DIVERSION. FIND A MAN, GET A PET, EXERCISE AS THERAPY, AND GETTING MORE INVOLVED WITH THE CHURCH ARE ALL OPTIONS.
I THINK THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO ALWAYS HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH AND BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE.

I'd start with changing your profile name so you don't have to life up to it any longer. It has neediness and the-poor-me all over it. Sorry for being so blunt - sometimes being kind just doesn't cut it. It's always easier to look outside of oneself for answers and happiness but in the end you'll only find it in yourself.

Answer is simple baby..... your completely empty because you need our God!... everybody here comment some like get a bf or a friend or an activity or a doctor but no one mentioned God that one that we cant see but by some strange reason we can feel and while more you call or look for him more you will feel that is there making your life complete!.... my experince is and ill share something very personal... my girl is 18 yo and my son 16, she have a big cyst in her bust, twisted spinal, tachicardia, little stones in kidneys.... and starting gastritis, my son hear 40% by his left hear... me... im not working, losted our house, loosing our car...my second couple passed because medical mistake little over 2 years... want me to continue baby?? NOOOO wouldnt end!....lol... you know whyyy im here and yes i do cry!... but why i didnt jump of a bridge? BECAUSE GOD EXISTS... my daughter have a cyst but thanks to him is not cancer!.. have twisted spinal but can walk... my son doesnt hear at all by his left hear but he do hear!... and me.. well im architect project manager that had a great professional economical life and some company broke me... but you know why i still have forces to continue, because we do have life and while you have life and a God and a reason to fight there will be hope!.. now look at yourself in a mirror.. say!... im young, beauty, have a wonderful life in front, im healthy!.. i do have a job.... and i will do this and this... and i can.... fill your life with positive toughts, is not easy... but works!.. plus visit the doctor, a friend, find a bf, and look for God!... he doesnt hurt!...have a wonderful life beauty!...
I understand exactly what you're saying. I've battled depression since I was a child, and only in the last few years have I been able to manage it chemical free. But I'm not going to say you have depression, as I have no authority to do so. What I will do is give you some very simple tools that I've used and found effective. Firstly, find a quiet place you can sit for maybe twenty minutes, and just take some deep breaths. Focus as much as you can on your breathing. I like to do this outdoors, in the fresh air. The scents and sounds can be very soothing. A great add-on for this is to close your eyes, and visualize yourself exhaling black vapor. This represents the negative energy you've built up. as you inhale, imagine breathing in a white vapor to symbolize gaining positive energy. As you do this, you should feel your mind and body relaxing and the tension leaving you. It sounds a bit silly, but it's worked for me a lot. Another tool I use is aromatherapy. This will make your environment calmer and easier to be in. You can use the scents as a perfume or in an oil burner. I use a combination of jasmine, frankincense, and myrrh oils. I use a few drops of each in an oil burner, and fill the rest of the basin with water. Placed on a high surface and left alone, it should permeate a room and need refilling about once a week. I highly suggest doing a little research on what scents have certain uses and properties, as there are many upon many that can produce a calming and uplifting effect. I would also suggest playing some soft music, as that can be very healing. You can find all kinds of music on Pandora or shoutcast.com. I, personally, like the Healing Stations on shoutcast, but you should browse and find something that suits you. I hope something that's been offered can at least take the edge off until you find yourself in a more stable headspace. However, I would also seek counseling if this depressed mood doesn't stop soon. If nothing else, you could have someone to vent to. Good luck.
The 20´s are difficult years. You are learning and growing. Now is the time to try and put positive thinking to the fore. Positive: you have a job and friends. That´s a start....the job you will probably change as time goes on, but you will maybe gain more friends from it. Itemise exactly what makes you feel empty, depressed, lonely and sad. Write it all down and analyse ur feelings in particular circumstances. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good. Steer clear of those who don´t.
