Polish peoples presence on the internet has been renowned for being extremely nationalistic. IN games servers they always go around with 'PL' in their name whereas German/French/Irish/British generally do not do this. IN fact Polish nationalistic sentiments are so prevalent on th intert that a German chan created the now famous Polandball.

PS. Katyn is a good film, was brutal. Has there ever been a movie about Bandera's massacre and cleansing of the Poles in Carpathia?

some years back,Saint Peter was sent down to the Shipyards in Gdansk,to see how things were developing there!
He tripped and fell into the water!
Being up in Heaven for near two-thousand years,he'd sort of forgotten how to swim.
Near drowning he called for help, and a burly worker named Lech jumped in and saved his life.
Peter gave Lech 3 wishes!
First one was,I wish China would invade us!
Second wish was,I wish China would invade us!
Third one was,I wish China would invade us!
Saint Peter said, guess since I promised,I have to grant you those wishes,no matter how unusual they are,but please tell me why you wish for China to invade you three times in a row, wouldn't that create quite a bit of hardship for your Country!
Lech said, yes, but imagine,to invade us,China has to pass through Russia three times coming and going!
Guess that's how popular Russia is in Poland!

So, in the Med. only the US allowed to have naval harbour facilities, and not the Russians????
Conrad73: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia%E2%80%93Syria_relations

The Syrian port city of Tartus hosts a Soviet-era naval supply and maintenance base, under a 1971 agreement with Syria. The base was established during the Cold War to support the Soviet Navy's fleet in the Mediterranean Sea. Since Russia forgave Syria of three-fourths, or $9.8 billion, of its $13.4 billion Soviet-era debt and became its main arms supplier, Russia and Syria have conducted talks about allowing Russia to develop and enlarge its naval base, so that Russia can strengthen its naval presence in the Mediterranean. Amid Russia's deteriorating relations with the West, because of the 2008 South Ossetia War and plans to deploy a US missile defense shield in Poland, President Assad agreed to the port’s conversion into a permanent Middle East base for Russia’s nuclear-armed warships. Since 2009, Russia has been renovating the Tartus naval base and dredging the port to allow access for its larger naval vessels.

could this be the Russian Reason?

The Russian naval facility in Tartus is a military installation of the Russian Navy located in the port of the city of Tartus, Syria. In Russian official usage it is a Material-Technical Support Point (Russ. ????) and not a "base". Tartus is the last Russian military facility outside the former Soviet Union, and its only Mediterranean repair and replenishment spot, sparing Russia’s warships the trip back to their Black Sea bases through the Turkish Straits.

Well their arms trade with Iraq is back in business and is about the same value as the loss to Libya ~4billionUSD signed. The Russians had HAD to have made some deal regarding the cancelling of the S-300 sale to Iran. And they are cashing it in, in Iraq and whereelse we don;t know. Yet. And when the Russians come around on Syria, they'll be another deal made. As for the port... it's not really needed. Never was. There's nothing really there.
Still, when the dust settles, pragmatism and realpolitik will rule again. You'll see a realignment back to the usual as it was. If democracy was to flourish in Syria tomorrow, US would be seen as the usual problem by a Sunni majority parliament.
