Send him a message on the site, and say something like "Oh i didn't realise that (insert your friends name) and you have seperated, i'll have to call her to see f she's ok?" I bet he'll be off the site quick smart, and probably never be able to look you straight in the eyes again.

That's true, you will be damned no matter what you do.
But the first five words in your opening sentence are "I can't imagine my friend" should give you an idea what you should do.
If you tell her she is going to be angry for butting into her business.
If you don't tell her she's going to be angry that you kept it from her.
But what's more important....that she knows her husband is on a dating site or that she doesn't talk to you for a day, a week, a month.
If you care about her, take care of her and deal with her anger later on. In the end, she will thank you but it might take awhile.
I wouldn't approach her husband if I were you. That could put you in danger.

This is her friend. For me the word "friend" is a person that I'm very close to, who trusts me. On the other hand, maybe Dande see's this friend every once in awhile and it's not a close friend.
There's also a chance that Dande's friend and husband are having a problem but didn't tell Dande. Maybe they don't want her to know.
I've been asking myself if I saw my son-in-law fooling around would I tell my daughter. I know it would break her heart but yes, I would tell her. It would be the end of their marriage and that would sadden me but I couldn't keep that kind of information from the person I love the most. I couldn't stand to see her betrayed day after day. Fortunately, she's a police officer and he knows if he strays.....out comes the Glock. That's a joke peeps.
