I did, whilst working from home at all sorts of silly hours.
My daughter is in full-time college, as of next week my granddaughter will be at a nursery for three full days a week. They went to view the place last week and my granddaughter cried when it was time to leave. She's desperate for the company of her peers, even crying when she sees kids playing on the other side of the street and we walk past. I think daycare is going to be a positive thing for her.
We had a part-time place with a childminder before that and my granddaughter loved that, too.
Perhaps we need to get away from the idea that using childcare is necessarily a great punishment and abandonment of kids, damaging their delicate psyches and social skills.
The most rewarding part of life. I loved my time with my daughter before she went to school, then after that I made sure my work fitted in with her curriculum.
lalasierra: Should women stay home and raise their kids?
If they want to yes.
I never did, I have always worked other than one sort stint after a redundancy, and even then children where looking for a job for me after a few weeks lol, I absolutely hate being at home all day, going out of my mind that I have to do it now. I am far happier working outside the home and devoting my time to them when I am off, and a happy Mam makes happy kids.

I think this is what my daughter has always found - having something for herself (studying at the moment) means she enjoys the time she spends with her daughter.

As Jac said IF they wish to.
Other than when my Children were born i worked.I was lucky enough to have great Maternity Benefit/time (30+ weeks) from my work and then a wonderful Mother In Law to care for my lot.
My family are very well adjusted and have benefited greatly from my working all those yrs and the support and love/support/care of my dear Mother in law and family also
Our time when i was off was always spent doing as they wished and they still talk of those times so in answer to the OP question is whatever one decides and suits the family is what matters !!

Should they stay at home? Sure No. Should they raise their kids? Sure. Should the same apply to the father? Sure. I think the main and most important thing is raising the children. Keeping gender roles alive is not.
