I think you can tell your kids what your beliefs are without saying that it is the only belief system that is valid.

is it right to tell your kids to the believe in the god you believe in?

they will work it all out for themselves anyway..teaching them to do that, instead of believe everything thats told to them, is far more beneficial.

There are certain traditions Irish kids go through in life that are important to them. Years ago they were all about religion but most of us now just think of them as tradition.

First holy communion being one. The little girl getting her dress and looking like a princess in it. Their little face lights up and then they have their little party afterwards. Also Easter, Christmas, Conformation and to name a few. If you tell them their is no god it spoils all that for them.

Let them mature and if they then start to doubt and ask questions let them make their own mind up. Until then they are just kids and let them enjoy being kids.

not every girls wants to be a princess..shame some are forced also into this "tradition"

easter and other "festive" times were pagan festive times before christianity came in and took them as their own..

u can be festive without a church or a God.. u can be festive everyday.. u can be a sheep if u want also..

dont take it as a parent taking away from a child when they give them no god..they give them the ability to see what they want..rather than what they are told to.

Nat saying they need to force god down the kids throat Fi. Just saying they dont need to hit kids with the big questions that young. God explains so much away that its an easy choice. Obviously when they get older they will cop all the holes in religion.

Its just I wouldn't want them being teased for saying certain things by other kids who believe other things. I wouldn't want them not having their communion day when all their mates are having theirs. Same with Santa. Its nothing to do with religion, just tradition now really.

But obviously every parent knows and has the right to bring up their kids as they see fit cause at the end of the day we all only want what's best for them.

I think you should exercise personal judgement on who you ask to look after your children.
I baby-sat kids when I was a teenager as I am sure lots of other teenagers have done and are doing.

Unless I had had someone recommended to me as a child minder for during the day if i had another child, then I would either trust the recommendation or use a proper vetted, again recommended childcare facility.
