David Allen Coe You Never Even Called Me by My Name
David Allen Coe lived in front of the grand ole opry in a hearse, after he had been in and out of prison for 20 some years.. He soon signed with Plantation Records, he got in tax trouble shortly after? this and lost his new home in Key West Florida, then moved in a CAVE in Tennessee... Yes i said CAVE... He got back on his feet later in life and is now recovering from an automobile accident in march of 2013..... Some folks live these songs, some people deserve respect!!
You got that right conrad. You can tell he knows what he's singing about. It really shows on this song. It can't come close to the original by Johnny Ace but it reflects how all fans of Johnny Ace feel about losing him at such a young age.

ooby_dooby: The best country & western song ever made. Here is one of my favs.
All I can say is I love his music but never party with the band and him..... This brings back some memories. Mainly me running out of a tour bus and them hollering come back we didn't mean to upset you And I do mean running in the physical sense Good group just a tad to wild back in the day for a small town country girl like me.

Come to think of it ooby Gary Stewarts drummer was from around your area I do believe. Have to take a memory walk and see if I can remember exactly where.
I've never actually seen DA Coe. A friend in Woodville VA introduced me to his music back in the late 70's. First time I heard "If that aint country" I couldn't believe my ears. A few years ago I found a CD of his 17 greatest hits at a Dollar General of all places. Just the other day I decided to rip the songs from the CD into mp3's so I could listen to them without messing with the CD. I downloaded a CD ripper and wound up with a goddamn virus called Sweetpacks. That SOB changed my home page, my default search engine, and added a toolbar. I got rid of all that before rebooting and ran an updated version of Malwarebytes just for kicks, came back clean.
Anyway, I really expected more people from the other side of the pond to pop in this thread, I know there's a few country music fans over there. Here's another great song.
Man this guy deserves way more recognition than he gets.
