Watching it live for the first time.

wonder if its about time I started my own business.
Ive talked about it often enough.
Only concern is the mentioning that the initiative will benefit the construction industry. Hope they dont make it harder for those not in that field to apply for and receive this incentive.

Watching it now too. They have hit single parents, unemployed people under 25, old people over 70 as well as increasing the price of cigs, drink, dirt tax.

She may do......But there wont be much in her speech as most of her departments savings will come from reducing the dole for under 25's, reducing the back to education allowance to 160 and hitting the phone allowance and medical card entitlements for over 70's.

it was reported that persons contribution towards rent supplement was increasing. Trying to find out if this will be the case. I already pay more than double the normal amount, last thing i need is to have to pay more.

They have hit that the last few years so I doubt they will hit it again. They could have been just flag flying.

Giving all under 5 year olds the medical card while taking it away from disabled and old people is just wrong. It means kids of multi millionaires will get free medical care while kids of low income families after 5 will lose out.

I agree but I don't think all old people should get it. Plenty of old people worth a fortune, why should they get a medical card just for passing 70?

Everything should be based upon your income. Rich people over 70 should not get a medical card and kids under 5 who have rich parents should not get the medical card. They have been taking the cards away from people suffering from lots of disabilities lately including down syndrome.

They are also making people who have the medical card pay an extra euro per item to fund all under 5's getting free care. It just doesn't make sense.

They also want young people to emigrate as they have cut their dole again and pay them less back to education allowance.

Well I expected nothing less to be honest. It is a typical FG budget with very little input from the muppets in Labour.

The fact they have cut the dole for under 25's is real proof they are encouraging people to emigrate. doh

Student registration fees going up to 3000 too so a lot of kids wont get to college as their family can't afford that. They really are hitting people between 18-25 really hard.
