What would that point be? Over 70's can use Skype when the fall and hurt themselves, 3rd level education should be for rich people only?, OAP's should pay 2.50 per item in a script to fund millionaires kids under 5 getting free medical care, or people under 26 should emigrate if they cant find work..?dunno

He is an arsehole who doesn't have a clue what he is on about.

sofarsogood74: They hit the usual people. Single parents, unemployed, medical card holders, old, sick and disabled. Typical.

Sounds similar to the Tories.

Well FG would be similar with their economic views....they believe look after the people at the top and the money flows down to those at the bottom.

Honestly can't understand how both parties are in place with the working class being the majority and their getting kicked in the teeth continuously, by the well to do, who clearly have no idea what it is like to live on the breadline and below the poverty line. Why do people vote for them doh

sofarsogood74: You are 27 so what years did you go to college? Fees only came back in for 2008/2009 college year...and they were only 850 a year...they are 3k now....so where exactly did you go to college? Because if your parents had to pay a large fee it wasn't here!!!!

Caught lying HC I love it!

2003-2006 I meant the 850 a year charge..as you quite rightly pointed out the higher fees came in some years after I left the it..the parents paid it but some scumbags didn't have to pay anything because they got a grant so they got it for nothing..you loved it alrightireland

Good. That is the way 3rd level should be....It should be about how clever you are and how hard you're willing to work...not how much money is coming into the household.thumbs up

sofarsogood74: It was raised to 850 in 2008...it wasn't 850 in 2003....So how did your parents pay that?

If you're going to tell porkies you really should do your research!

I know it was around the 800 mark do you really need exact figureslaugh

sofarsogood74: Just googled it.....It was 150 punts from 1996 to 2002 then it was put up to 396 euro...then 600 euro till 2008....Hardly any way near the 3k people have to pay now or the fees we had to pay pre 1996.

But you never went near a college....we all know that now.

In my ignorance..as usual..I have not read the complete thread. I have not watched the budget crap either.
Let them tax booze and cigarettes as much as they like, that is a personal choice that users make, it is not a necessity. I hate when they keep killing the youth and the elderly. IMO everybody should have the right to education without cutbacks. The elderly are the people who worked their asses off and should be able to enjoy their last years. I knew one elderly woman who loved to read the newspaper everyday and could no longer afford it. I knew one young guy working in a hotel a few years back who was trying to make a few quid to put himself through college...the hotel made him pay 25 quid..(pre euro) for a white shirt to wear behind the bar when a freakin Dunnes shirt should have been okay.
People with disabilities were given a life for a while and now with cutbacks their quality of life is diminishing daily.
It is fine for rich a**hole to say...aw we can all cut back..for some people that is not an option, they are already shopping as cheaply as they can, some do not have access to a decent public transport system and still have to drive to work.
There is no equality and we are letting down the youth of Ireland who deserve a future and the elderly who have spent their lives contributing to this country economically and culturally.
