shell1964: well its here again and people are crazy as ever.. people rush out to get deals in stores early when some of the stores open..I think it is moraly insane...people push and shove and fight over getting into stores for deals on marchandise they can buy online maybe not as good of a deal but your saving gas money and the chance of getting hurt.. anybody out there or anyone that would run out on this day to shop in the caos or thoughts about this crazy day..:
The sales aren't really about saving money, they're about petty power and emotional frenzy. It's the desire for getting one over the group and that feeling of winning even if it is in the most minor way possible that calls to a certain instinct - namely the womans.
I think it was around the year 2008 when Canada started with the Black Friday sales event. Canadians near the US border would travel down to the US in droves seeking out bargains and this hurt retail businesses up here. I have to go grocery shopping today and am not looking forward to the crowds.
Obstinance_Works: I like the name Black Friday because when you think about it Thanksgiving itself is like the Native American Halloween. The name works on two levels.
You know, to have Thanksgiving which more than any other day celebrates the culture that exterminated Native Americans followed by a day of consumerism from the same culture called Black Friday I find to be rather fitting.
Actually the stores opened up at 5 pm yesterday...it's getting crazy, I don't even go, the sales aren't that great, so I do cyber Monday and shop online and get so much better deals
chatonlyman2: Here is another great idea. I should grab a cart and abandon it in a busy spot then go get another ect.
yes i did it i went to hhgreg where they sell big stuff tv"s etc...i went to buy flat screen 36 inch which i didnt need a cart to carry out cause they are not heavy but the store is not very roomy(if you know what i mean) well i put cart in aisle and left it there and put another cart in another isle people are buying big stuff trying to get through what an eventfull day its been
Ccincy: My boyfriend and I had to go go out in the afternoon to do some banking and actually the traffic didn't appear all that bad.We were totally surprised.
Even one of the local Meijer's stores weren't all that busy, everyone must've been at the Malls.
yes same here i went out at 1:30pm and it wasnt bad anywhere they must of been earlybirds glad i went when i did
