I feel like I'm listening to a child who thinks once you've hit 35 you're a coffin dodger.
Although it's true, when you're in your teens, or twenties, 5 years is a big age gap for a relationship.
When you're in your 40's, 5 years is pretty insignificant, but someone in their 20's is your daughter's friend who drops by for a sandwich and a cup of tea when they're pissed off with their own mum.

That's another point. And This may be different for the OP because he isn't Western, but generally speaking are older people actually more mature, knowledgable and better for conversation?
I mean, people over 75 we can look at as being the kind of wise elders we remember our(great)grandparents to be, but that generation aged from about 40 to 70 just seems to sink into an adolescent abyss of apathy and indifference not dissimilar to how my own generation was as teenagers, there seems to be little marked difference in seriousness between those aged 15 and those aged 50.
