It's scary that a highly contagious disease could mutate causing a lethal epidemy. I mean mutations as happens with the flu.

I don't know much about ebola and its treatment or possible cures.

I hear they(locals)are attacking the doctors & nurses and attempting to "liberate" the sick from the quarantine. And after just watching the new planet of apes movie(which I strongly recommend all to see)I'm all the more wary of a deadly virus being unleashed upon Humanity by over-intelligent apes.

Anyway the bed dust mite is a Labority in North Korea to stem cell it twice the population of the world and twice as big as man .they will be launching their release very soon if those poor Palastinians don't get what is due to them soon , a safe place for their children to live and have hope of a decent life . Yes even North Korea are starting to see what a raw deal they have always got to make do with living in the Gaza not even good enough like a shanty town.....thumbs down

I cannot believe how cynical I am becoming as my years advance,....

The death toll Ebola is miniscule! MALARIA smokes many more,...but hey, like dandelions, we become used to them/that.

Homo sapiens (all anti-evolutionits,...this is what human primates are described as),...are over 7 billion organisms strong,...some kind of population "control and balance" is to be expected.

I was impressed by the Spanish Influenza,.....cool,....but lately,....other than cardio and cancer,....old Mother Nature is taking her time,...

epirb: I think the comment about travellers might just be misleading as it can be caught off surfaces . If you catch it you really will be able to say " I caught it off a toilet seat , really I did ...."

Doctor can't even ask if one did it with Toilet-seats,as he might ask on other occasions!laugh

I think it's frightening to think that because of people's overuse of antibiotics they will in time work less and less as people are using them for minor sicknesses and when the time comes when they are needed to treat serious health matters one will be immune to them working .

LOL! I have far often too much seen overly-concerned parents SCREAMING at doctors for antibiotics cuz little Johnny has some sniffles,....coercing doctors to prescribe,...and doctors doing so just to SHUT THEM UP!,....antibiotics only deal with BIOTIC NOT VIRAL situations,...and over-use only genetically strengthens (sorry anti-evolutionists,...welcome to evolved bacteria)bacterial strains! ARRRGGGHHHHH! Humans are such silly primates,...and to boot,....even when antibiotics are used properly, bacteraial tolerance and something akin to "banked" resistance kicks in,....hey,...wait a minute,.....nature doesn't care,....population balance is part of the natural order of things,......we are NO MORE IMPORTANT than any other species on this planet,....until our nYellow Dwarf sun exhausts its fuel and wipes out not only life, but the planet itself during its expansion into Red Giant,....then agaian,...I digress,...

the worse thing is that they are fed to animals to improve growth rates . Use of antibiotics have also been used in commercial quantities to treat Kiwi Fruit vines for a disease . Never mind Moos if ebola gets cracking those 7 billion organisms might get a thin out going by the rabbit disease that works the same .

bola. Chikungunya. Dengue. Norovirus. Hantavirus. Swine flu. Varicella. Variola. The names sound like something out of a sci-fi movie. Yet, threats to Americans are real, and escalating by the week. The Department of Homeland Security, or DHS, reported on Aug. 1 that serious diseases are spreading at detention centers for Illegal border crossers. Health-care workers and Border Patrol agents, plus their children, have tested positive for tuberculosis (TB), swine flu, chicken pox, lice and scabies. Instead of being quarantined, illegal border crossers are being dispersed rapidly across the U.S., with those of school age being registered in public schools opening soon for all.
