2girlsnocup: The odds are also that it could make it. It all varies from couple to couple. Although they may be strangers at the start, ain't we all strangers when we start to date someone?
These are human beings like you and I, not pieces of furniture or toys.
Worldwide, women are so devalued, they are put up for sale as 'mail order brides' or just sold in human-trafficking rings.
Do they sometimes appear to agree with it? Of course. Abject poverty and horrific social conditions affect your judgement and sense of self-worth. Would they do it if they had a proper choice? No way. Often, they are not given any choice.
And as for buying them to make them a funnel, or port, for your offspring? I can just feel the respect for women radiating from that.
Out of all the billions who live and have lived upon the earth we are truly the odd ones out. Who is to say that we are not just up ourselves in the West?
And do you know that many of these women don't live in huts? They can't afford to be middle class, sure, but they don't usually live in horrific poverty.

serena123: Not strangers when you get married though..
It's not like they step off the plane and head straight to the Church or wherever. They have time to get to know one another.
I mean, let's face it. Some people may have a preference to date, for example, an Asian, as is their choice. If they live in a country where they are few and far between, it makes sense for them to go via the MOB route, if they are comfortable with it.
Remember, only a few years ago, Internet dating was seen as mildly pathetic and sad to people who didn't need to use it.

hoolet: what are the odds against any marriage surviving???? Mail order is just the same as betrothing youngsters in royal families, which went on for years.
You got the power!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You talking about a completely different senario.. Happens here too, where the woman has NO choice in the matter, and divorce is out of the question.. Of course they had to make it work, and in most cases, turn a blind eye to all their husband's mistresses!!
serena123: I believe there are desperate woman willing to sell themselves off to the highest bidder yeah..poor sods
I believe so too I've watched some TV show about agencies in Russia (in this case), how they "prepare" women for life in the USA (in this case), so they had to learan English, a little about culture and so on......
CS members.. Thanks for keeping this blog going. It's obvious from the responses that some of us think it will work other have no faith in its longevity . That's ok. The negative stigma around "mail order bride" is waning rapidly. The failure rate of marriage around the world it at an all time low. There are risk in everything - why would romance be different.
