Not at all true. I met my ex partner on this site. We emailed and talked on the phone for eight months last year. I had no idea what he looked like. He didn't want to post a pic so I accepted that. I figured he's either drop dead gorgeous and doesn't want me to use that as my interest in him or he's not attractive at all and thought I might run away.
I won't say the first interest in someone is always how handsome or beautiful they are but it usually does hold some weight for a continuing interest.

I feel the need to clarify that after I met the relationship continued for another 10 months before it dissolved which had nothing to do with what he looked like.

No, no one does need to post a pic, but then no one needs to talk with a faceless profile if they don't want to.
I don't want to and it has something to do with the experiences I made on here with faceless local profiles - fake double accounts of posters, messing, crudeness etc.

I will admit that I am not the best looking guy in the world, but is it too much to ask for a little bit of slack on this issue?

Please don't give up just yet. I met my current special someone here. He approached me with a 'faceless' profile. I hesitated initially but by his 3rd CS email, I was blown away by his charm and wittiness. By the 7th CS email, I decided that I liked him very very much and we exchanged Skype and Yahoo! email addresses. From my experiences on here, most of the so called "women" here are scammers looking for something. That is why I am thinking about giving up looking for love because it does not exist.
He did show me his face eventually ( without even me asking ) but it didn't matter anymore ( to me ) that time coz I was already so smitten with him!
P.S I still find him very very handsome and attractive even though he's already 64

Well, it does exist. You just need to be patient. Hey, do you want us to hold a pity party for you? Forget about how handsome you are or aren't. That kind of thing doesn't hold any weight with me and there are probably other women who feel the same way.
I don't know how long you've been on CS but I will tell you that it took me 7 years before I found my ex. And while I was around I had discussions with other posters. We had fun back in the day before Facebook took the regular posters. Back then there was a lot of flirting and innuendos that brought people together.
It's your decision if you want to leave CS. I don't beg anyone to stay. Your reason for leaving will be respected by me.
Hang around in the forums and post so women will see who you are.
