I know this sounds kind of harsh but no response is an answer. Many woman and men get lot's of mail. But people with no picture usually don't get a response anyways. To many people trying to build mailing list for one. And two for what ever reason a person feels they don't want their photo on a dating site is really there problem and not someone else's to contend with. I know I won't give out my email address for this purpose.
I know many people may think it's an obligation or courteous to answer every email others send you just for selecting you, but many are not interested in opening the door to someone they are not interested in to begin with. So as I said in the beginning no response is an answer.

Vijon70: I probably written about 25 people who never respond but I keep seeing maybe three times a week AS POTENTIAL DATES.. I understand my criteria for a date is limited, but I can.t understand why they do not respond just for friend and respect a person for choosing them.. I get more calls from internet hustlers on this site than I get from legitime applicants.
It'll have to be a very good email to get her attention without putting a picture up and a profile with your sycophantic air.
Put yourself in her shoes. The average-looking woman with a mediocre profile gets probably as many emails as the most eligible of bachelors. Against the backdrop of such easily-gained attention, how are you to stand out from the crowd? What specialness do you bring to the table?
Like I've said, the lumpenfrau will get the same attention as the bachelor. So it doesn't how matter how special and interesting she isn't, she will still expect you to be.

Surely a profile pic would increase your chances, you cant expect potential dates to go on a written profile and no pic , C'mon man get a grip!!
As far as the e-mails go i don't have a problem, although i notice some woman go mental if you don't reply even if it is to say " i don't think we suit each other, thanks for the mail " Some crazy's on this site you know, for the familiar faces, well its a good site for forums ect. Wouldn't take dating on it too seriously though enjoy it for what it is, a smashing wee site :)

Only by his 7th email, he decided to show himself to me. That also, he showed his old pics, like 10 years younger? The following day, I asked for a more recent one and guess what? I loved his current look than he was 10 years younger
He looks more distinguished and dapper at 64 now than he was before
