Here are a few examples of miserliness that i discovered in a man i went out with for a VERY short while some time ago.......even though he was only 55 he had a free travel pass and insisted on leaving his car at train station and we went to galway on packed train standing all the way.....went into the local supermarket at 7 in the evening to get 2 dinners for 2 euro each as it was the end of the day.......uses candle wax to light the fire so that he wont have to buy firelighters.....burns his rubbish out the back of his house even though it is illegal......always asks for a pint of tap water with a dash of orange in the pub so that he wont have to pay for it.....i could go on and on but then nobody would believe that any one person could possess so many miserly traits.......definitely the meanest person i ever met......anyway, anybody else come across any scrooges......

I know worse man. All what you mention but additionally man is very rich. He accept Christmas present from woman but never gives even candy or card for Christmas to his lover. He chooses women who feeds him and takes everywhere for free: she pays. Also he enjoys when she visiting if she brings food for him. He rather goes to restaurant alone because if goes with lady here is possibility she wants that he pays. He prefers woman who has her house and he is visitor with wine bottle if that and lady feeds him and beds him... Man thinks he is very good looking , so, he can get all for free and collect his money for new motorcycles, sport cars. Then he sits in sport car and goes for another by him "stupid woman". Amazingly enough he has huge success...

I never equated mean with a skinflint. I thought someone who was so mean was violent or cruel rather than just uber frugal. dunno

An ex boyfriend who never made me tea or breakfast in bed,

frustrated .

Another ex boyfriend would cook for me all the time but would climb a mountain if he knew there was a penny on the ground,

I know a woman who complained to the cafe owner that there wasn't enough blueberry s in her muffin,

She the type person to bring her own biscuits and cake into the cafe,

Would rather sit in the cold on the street with a flask of coffee then pay for it in cafe.

Needless to say I don't go for coffee with her and she just moans about everything,

Aah she a real pain,

frustrated

OF COURSE, IT IS A REFLECTION ON OURSELVES. WHAT DO WE CREATE, ATTRACT, DRAWN TO. I HAVE TO SAY AFTER A THIRTEEN YEAR RELATIONSHIP. KNOWING WHEN TO SAY WHEN. WELL I FINALLY HAVE BEEN TOTALLY SINGLE OVER A YEAR. IT IS INTERESTING WHEN WE LEARN WHAT WE SEE IN HER IS A DIRECT RESULT OF OUR BELIEFS, SELF AWARENESS, VALUE. WE ALL DESERVE EQUALITY. IT IS HARD TO BE SO GREAT AT KNOWING HOW SELF WORTH IS ATTAINED. IT IS A JOURNEY.! PEACE

All that sounds pretty sensible to me, not to mention more environmentally friendly.

Sometimes people do these things because they don't have much, or want to save for something special. Sometimes they do it out of habit having experienced extreme hardship in the past and maybe fear extreme hardship again in the future. Sometimes people do these things because they believe in a less wasteful, less capitalist lifestyle.

Personally, I find a lot of people's consumerist attitudes a bit demanding, brainwashed and spoilt brat-ish at the expense of the planet, or others, but it does work so very well for the government and big corporations.

Personally, I'd rather my money went to more altruistic organisations than Tesco, or Esso. dunno

I guess I am lucky. I haven't met many truly mean people. Several years ago I met a couple of people in warehouse I worked in that i granted a very large berth and just tried to stay away from. pretty nasty.

..no jac....this man is just a miser in the first degree!!... He could not care less about the environment....using the train instead of the car was not because he was worried about the environment....he burns his rubbish illegally on his land.......even though he has loads of money he still finds a way to get things for nothing from the state......i will just give one other example of his meanness to prove my point!!... You know the residue of food that might gather in a sink after washing delph??....well, he does not put that in the bin!.....he gives it to his little dog even though it is covered in washing up liquid and germs.....now, if anybody can beat that for meaness i'd love to hear about it.....rolling on the floor laughing
