That's what a lot of working people have to survive on.
jac_the_gripper: What evidence do you have that in large families children are neglected, or do not get enough attention?
In large families it may be there are more people to give attention, as well as receive attention.
When my daughter was small, I received many comments about how difficult it can be just having one child and how much more dependent they are on attention from just one person. The implication was that children from larger families are maybe better at interacting with others.
....i know of a good few families living in a town near me who have 7/8/9 kids and whose parents have never worked......i must say the kids are not neglected in some ways in that they are the ones who always have the most expensive trainers and clothes, televisions in every room, mobile phones etc....their parents know that if the day ever came when their children might go to 3rd level the state will foot the bill for that as well..... As Tru and Molly said it was the norm long ago for families to have 10/12 children but people worked very, very hard to rear them......
