Would you go all-in or with a strategic calculation on your first date?

I try to keep an open mind and go all-in but there's always that little voice in the back of my head reminding me that I need to watch my back. I do realize that I'm on the fence here but it's a fact that I believe most would agree with.

It is different for me if I go on a date where I know someone socially for a while, as I would have an idea of the person and only would agree to meeting him if I think we have things in common.

Someone I met on a night out - no expectations other than him hopefully being honest with what he wants. For me this is just to get an idea of a "stranger" and I'd go into something like that pretty neutral.

No strategic calculations for me, all I want is to get to know someone and see how it goes. conversing

I tend not to date strangers. I have to have chatted to them for a long time.

So when I do meet up with somebody, I would have gotten to know and like them in advance, so I would be just just looking forward to meeting them in person.cheering

Personally, I would go in as myself. Often people go on first dates and pretend to be different to who they really are at home. By this I mean it is natural that each person tries to present themselves in the best possible light on a date, but in reality we cannot keep up such appearances in the long run.

So I always went in just as I am. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. That is the nature of things.

I tend to meet people with an exit strategy in place and a "Plan B" backup.

I learned the hard way to "keep my head in the clouds, but my feet on the ground".....
