Lolette: The other day, i tagged along with a friend to a Tattoo Shop, and i was quite impressed by the number of clients, of all ages, men and women, waiting for their turn to be tattooed. To be honest, i was tempted to have one, so many iresistible designs are there. It takes 2 months to have a place, expensive and painful (they say) at times,, an eagle design on the chest costs 400€, a small colored 4 leaf clover costs 180€, so many various histories and practices, but individually, they say each has it's own symbol and personal significance behinds one's tattoo. I see some of us here have tattoos, what prompted to have it, was it for a decor or something personal, can you share,, in waiting to have one for me ,,,
You know, I've been tempted in the past, but then opted for a temporary tattoo just to see how it would feel to sport what I like to the public. In the end, I realized that I don't need to display what I think or feel to others in order to validate myself.
Humans have always adorned themselves in some way for various reasons and that's okay, but there's also the downside to permanency. ....and then there's this:

Nidi dear,, it's crazy what i saw in that shop,,been asking to myself, what's happening? some so costly ,, a big eagle on the back t'was 800€,, and there's a woman there, after she lost her husband, she said it's my sign of a new life,, fool, how they attribute something to that, so i was asking , is it not an expression of a certain emotional breakdown or relief?,, about you video ,,if it will look like starfish in the years to come,, better do that starfish now ,, it might just become smaller later ,,

I have one, from my early 20's.
I don't lay awake at night thinking about it or anything,
but all things being equal I'd rather it wasn't there.

DertyHarry44: I grew up old fashion my old man used to say tattoos are for
convicts but not true now we know tattoos been there for millenial
Was thinking like that, those men on Harley Davidson in group, they are impressive ,, i can even say they are taboos at that time, but then as what we see now,, it's really a sign of something, people from all walks have one, some are hidden some are shown ,, but i can say now it's a form of art well accepted by the society.

recently at the Starbucks I asked one employee what was that number
in her wrist she said the year I was born I asked myself why she wants to have her tattoo year as a reminder...I don't get it

It was the last gasp of teenage rebellion.
When there was still a shadow of pushback against the "mainstream" in having a tattoo. It was the early nineties afterall, my shaved head and goatee still raised eyebrows then too.
I have a small tattoo on my left shoulder blade and a small one on my right shoulder blade. They are significant to me and not visible to anyone unless I choose to show them or I have my top off when I am on the beach. It is body art, no different to makeup or jewellery and with anything as long as it is not over done it has its place. As far as the comment often made by some, "trailer trash", it not only insults those who live in trailers out of necessity or choice, but it shows a lack of respect for peoples choices. I know doctors, dentists, firefighters, nurses ect who have tattoos and I would hardly call them "trailer trash". I for one would not take to kindly to being labelled in that way.
