2intrigued: When I was working in a healthcare facility, it was mandatory for medical staff who performed direct patient care to get the flu vaccine due to the types of illnesses and age of the patient population in the facility. Many of the doctors and nurses would refuse the vaccine and ran the risk of not getting paid if they are off work due to the flu. They had their reasons for refusing...some because of allergies to the ingredients in the vaccine's preservative. I was ordered by a neurologist not to get the flu vaccine due to thimerosal (mercury) that is present in the preservative. Any of the healthcare workers who had medical reasons to not get the vaccine were offered Tamiflu tablets at the onset of any flu symptoms and sent home with pay until deemed clear to return to work.

hi trigs,
yes, certain professions are more exposed to contamination than others, and to know that certain couldn't avail of such precautions could be a reason to be more attaintive to first signs of contaminations. thank you trigs,,, be vigilant ,,teddybear

string,,

There are lots of contadictory informations that we could read regarding preventive vaccines, this video is encouraging
an adequate supply of vitamin D thru ultra violet rays, not all household could afford to have that aparatus, and error in dosage could be more dangerous.
Some people might have already some pathology that could complicate with large doses of vitamin D thru ultra-violet rays.

In this case, i rather put my trust to my family doctor or simply go to places with much sunlight on winter seasons, which is quite unadoptable too to a large number of a population.
Thanks, anyway for sharing, we could always make reflections from informative videos,,

The flu vaccine is a gamble.
But if it increases the chance of not getting sick, it might be worth it.

In Belgium it is given to some groups. elderly, doctors and nurses, airport staff, teachers, ...
They also are big on spreading diseases or most at risk for death.

So if by giving shots, you increase the chance the hospital is running with an epidemic, then i would say give shots.
So if by giving shots, you don't have to start quarantining retirement centres sick or healthy, then i would say give shots.

the flu can be a big killer. so it is good to keep the vaccination production up to speed.

Best flu vaccine, eat lots of oranges and grapefruits, lots of Vitamin C from the actual fruit itself, no need for any injection/vaccine shot in the arm

Yes, it's a big killer,, most of the case pulmonary complications,
some fragile ones are well exposed ,,,so what's prevention as to the risk ?

As flu is a viral infection I don't think oranges would help.

Babettefr: Statistics shows that thousands die if influenza each year.
Seasonal FLU activity occurs between October to May.
Despite the encouragement from the health authorities as a preventive measure, still a lot don't got vaccinated.
For what reason? why still a lot refuse such vaccine?
Now is the right time to get vaccinated, are you convinced of it's efficacity ?
Have you been seriously sick of flu? and been hospitalized ?
Is there any other alternative as a preventive measure aside from a vaccine. Share your experience ,,

My folks and I have had to stop getting vaccinated, each year except last year we all got the flu jab, and each year both of my parents ended up in hospital quite poorly and myself being ill and unable to look after them. Why, I don't know but I wont be getting the flu vaccination again.

Same with me, last year i didn't got vaccinated,, to see if i can resist to the season,, unfortunately, i didn't escaped,, and the recovery was quite hard and so exhausting ,,, so this year,, i will surely don't miss it, and it so contageous,, you can catch it easily.

I understand the chances of catching flu and colds. I did get flu last year and was not as sick as I have been with the flu jab....so to me it wasn't bad at all. My folks haven't had the flu since refusing the flu jab.

Vitamin C does wonders against scurvy,...but is useless against influenza virus,...

they are also preventing the hospitals from shutting down and spreading the epidemic further through doctors.
It is about keeping the system running, not only prevention of deaths.
