I just found this out: squirrels will pretend to hide food to fool the other squirrels watching them. The scent in the area where they pretend to hide the food picks up (because they roll it a few times then cheek it) the scent, throwing them off. Burrowing owls mimic the hiss of a rattlesnake to keep predators away from their hollows.------ This thread is Archived ------

I am feeding the little critters right now. They also misplace
80% of the nuts they stash, so they are all finding each others.
