secretagent09: 2.5 billion years ago the planet was covered in water. Could this be the start of another ice age.http://www.cnn.com/videos/weather/2016/03/11/argentina-glacier-collapse-van-dam-cnni-nr-lklv.cnn
We are still 70 percent covered with water! No worries, I am a proponent of plate tectonics, "understand" climate change, evolution, etc.
Yes, a warming of the planet, with glacial calving affecting oceanic currents, could indeed generate another ice age....along with planetary "tilt"...what an amazing planet!

That's nice to know that you are educated and experienced with the problem of global warming. There are so many who say there's no such a thing. My response to that is to ask them if their weather has been the same as in recent years.
We have 73 degrees today, the next couple of days it will be 40 and then back up to warmer weather. That is not a normal weather pattern.
We did it to ourselves destroying the ozone layer with aerosol cans, Chlorofluorcarbons, gasoline emissions ... the list goes on and on.
We can't turn back the clock to correct what we did. But I ask, is the ozone layer so thin that we can't prevent further damage?

Climate change and global temperatures have always existed! Todays debate seems to focus on whether or not the recent changes are anthropogenic.

Hold on ... I have to look up that word.
Okay, got it.
Of course it's caused by humans. It didn't just happen by itself.

I still believe China is most responsible for climate change. This is so, not because of man made pollution. Rather it is a result of China's three gorge dam's reservoir. The area of this reservoir is almost as much area as California and Texas combined.
This amount of new water in this reservoir has caused the earth to tilt and is suspect for near future earth quakes in that area because of the fault line the dam is sitting on or near sitting on.

Many major climatic/atmospheric changes occurred before our species even existed! This is not to say that we may, or may not be influencing this recent trend...but the thermodynamics of our climactic heat engine are extremely complex. I do not absolve humanity, nor do I condemn,...I just continue to seek answers. Just remember that a few decades means very little in regards to climate. Climate spans eons....

I didn't know about the China thingy. Interesting but I don't think it's why the icebergs are melting.

There have been many times when "ice" did not exist on this planet...and many times the planet was nearly totally ice-bound! All before humans existed. We are in a post-glacial period...is it being accelerated by humans? Maybe...then again, maybe even if humans completely disappeared from the planet,...we would still continue to progress away from a glacial period...a demanding topic to say the least!
