@ lifeis #47 Poor people First we need to know why they are poor. Perhaps, they just need not to encourage their children to have many children if they can not sustain them with decor
In overpopulated countries like China perhaps, the great majority of Americans that fall into the poverty level are far better off and have better working conditions than most crop pickers, foreign and national, in U.S.
crayons: not worried about the Trumpy, he's your typical businessman, I've met several around here who've entered politics to clean up the bloated bureaucracy.
He's Hired Nigel Firage to advise him on the finer points of debating the globalists...the Trumpy learns fast, and Firage is legendary and already a star in the eyes of a majority of americans.
lifeisadream: I would not blame USA for any problem with our trading, our presidents/senate are the ones responsible of it.
"commie" ?
Any one that does not agree with you is a commie so what makes you then?
A bloody capitalist?.....someone that place profit over people? Which I do not see it wrong as long as you do acknowledge and respect diversity, freedom of choice to believe and support whatever fits people's conscience/soul.
Have you ever heard of Social Democracy?
I don't think I have ever agreed with anything you have said ever and if I'm wrong I apologise profusely , and no I don't think you are a commie . And there is a middle economic way , not practised much any more . Too much polarisation , might be the wrong word but close enough .
Rumples: A lot of the first world is a communist on agriculture. And besides I'd look to use a system of subsidies to primarily raise wages and cheapen certain products relative to others(wheat wouldn't be any cheaper). Raise the costs for Mcdonalds and the people who go to Mcdonalds and raise the wages of the people who pick apples and cherries(and lower their price).
Adequately paid crop picking could be used to bolster the gig economy - an American could crop pick two or three days a month as well as doing other things - and perhaps as an alternative to the welfare state; a safety net of employment. Of course the natural opponents of this idea would be diabetes, heart disease and death.
you're looking at food the wrong way , food which is fattening is nutritious . That's not a food problem , its person problem . No body ever got fat eating apples that I know of . Yeah , guess apples never caused much in the way of over weight problems either . Inactivity and overeating bigger cause than nutritious food .

I know people who have worked as shearers in the US , following the season north as it warmed , they were treated like crap . When the same guys and their woman worked the sheep in Brit Isles they were treated very well , one married a royal .

This isn't the third world we're talking about, this is America. They could easily forego a lot of calories and have in their place, apples. Why not have some kind of bad calorie tax which is used to subsidise wages and lower prices of healthy foods(which, not by coincidence, tend to the more labour-intensive)?
Food prices effect eating habits more than education in health and nutrition, that's worth remembering.

Yes, exactly. The fight against diabetes should be taken seriously like the fight against cancer as overeating or poor diet is worse than smoking. And not only the tax/fine, but the shame. We should shame fat people's disgusting habits and lack of self-discipline in the same way we shame smokers.
If we could curtail fatties even half as much as we've curtailed smokers, the world would be a much better place with or without using the money to improve the labour market.

perhaps we should build really small doors and very little cars Wish you luck on the fattie shaming .
i didn't see much bias. As an educated person, i found Trump rude & vague. and Clinton seemed to have the better network.
too bad for usa that this is not really a choice. As soon as Clinton said she would run, she kinda won in the DNC. But also in my country we can't elect our top leaders directly.

lifeisadream: Good for me !! I am liberal and I place people over profits.
yes yes , woe on me , I must change my basic human nature and the way I express it after all , me saying that "whites are not the only one's with rights just because it rhymes" , yes yes ,I can see why some people would think that outlandish
raphael119: Once a commie always a commie, Trump loves Putin. Were already in a cold war with Russia, the new KGB is just around the corner!
Another stunt pulled like Obama's last one bombing Syrian troops should stop any cold war starting . Having a US carrier sunk in the Med might sharpen US voters minds about what side the US is backing .
epirb: I don't believe Obama would call Putin's bluff like Assad ignored Obama's line in the sand crap when he gassed some Syrians , an error of identification could easily happen . S3oo missiles have no heart and won't mind who's in the plane once fired . A few Americans might want to give pause for thought just where the US is sitting right now . One happy thought , US won't be late for the show this time collecting all the kudos .
Obama's weakness in tackling Syria hard and fast years ago when Russia stood back helping Iran secure its nuke program has left a dangerous situation .
well o'blowso sure has helped the iranians giving them millions if not billions and they still want more.
i dont trust Fox news, or the article, we are not going after ISIS because we fund them and they are o'boohoo's little pets. he loves them and the goal has always been to take out Assad even though Assad never did anything to us, This is clearly a bankers war. when all else fails to stimulate the economy take everybody to war.
this proxy war is gonna go hot with the neocons/homegrown commies here stirring the pot, Gen Milly's threats did not help either.

YES! It will come to pass that Iran will be trouble....with this HORRIBLE DEAL STRUCK by the WITCH with a CAPITAL "B". Clinton and Barry Obama....there is ABSOLUTELY NO TEETH IN THIS AGREEMENT!!! Its $150 BILLION DOLLARS going to the NUMBER ONE PROMOTER of TERRORISM IRAN TO DEVELOP NUKES to be EVENTUAL dropped on Israel!
Is this MADNESS, or WHAT!?????
This should be RIPPED UP right after Barbara Streisand BEGRUDGINGLY SINGS "Happy Days Are Here Again" at the Trump's Presidential party!
