Judging by the appearance of an ordinary American I would argue for an increase in food prices. Why not raise wages in crop picking?

I bet you one million dollar that most of the people here that talk ill about the working people in the fields -domestic or foreign workers- have not idea what picking crops or agriculture related work is (please note that I said "most of the people") and that people -the ones that talk manure about the field workers- would not resist one week working on the fields.

Some people (not the majority though) are buying their produce under several conditions:
1. Locally produced
2. organic
3. from social responsible farms
4. etc...

First we need to know why they are poor.
Perhaps, they just need not to encourage their children to have many children if they can not sustain them with decor.
Higher wages could work yet other approaches can be effective as well.
Here the owners of some greenhouses are giving university's scholarships to the children of their best workers (including profesional ones) and in that the worker wants to keep his/her job.
Would you work at the field (picking crops) even if you could being paid as much as a lawyer?
