All these modern women r looking for a male to respect. The problem is that those hardly exist anymore.

I had my dependants without complaining about it, my children and my ex. It was an another time, an era now done away with.
Now I'm happy to take care of myself and any g/f I had and may have in the future will take care of herself.
Men aren't needed now and it's just as well. Gives us more time for hobbies and friends.

TokyoRogue: I think this gross generalization is formed by a person who perhaps has made some repeatedly bad choices in partners and doesn't realize just because she may have had certain negative personal experiences with men, those experiences can not then be applied carte blanche to every other living man on the planet.
To suggest all men want everyone in their life to depend on them is patently absurd. Most of us understand this through our day to day interactions with friends, colleagues, family and society in general, not to mention our own relationships. If at any time in my previous relationships would I have demanded my significant other be dependent on me, i'd have been kicked to the kerb.
Most of us men actually do want as much equality between ourselves and our partners as possible.I'm sorry your personal experiences have imbued you with such a negative opinion of us.

I have always been attracted to similar types. I have tried others but they all conform to the same pattern.

I've been without a man to look after me and my kids since 1992. We would like someone to respect but have not found one.

And ur mom says nothing.
At some point u must develop some wings, I'm sure ur Mom hopes. It's nice to have the kids around, but they also eventually become independent.
As long as u can look after urself and pop in now and again, I'm sure ur Mom would be happy.

Let_Us: Snook, I have no argument or comment for ANY of that - EXCEPT - your assertion that you've "learned a lot more than most people." You've probably learned some things that others haven't. But it's just as likely that they've learned some that you haven't. Quality of life IS NOT determined by HOW MUCH you know. but by WHAT you know. So what's the point of saying "I know MORE than you know"? I'm sorry that your life's been hard, but so have a lot of other people's. And I'm sure that ALMOST ANY WOMAN IN SOMALIA would trade places with you in an instant! And GLADLY/HAPPILY assume ALL your problems! Even your old ______ ex, the British "difficulty". Comparing lives and knowledge is relative. And, while it CAN BE interesting, it's mostly useless/pointless. JMO
