Rachie14: Well some of us are honest from the get go. Scammers will always exist. It's earning a living to them.
You see they are real people, but their intent is very different. There are plenty of tell tale signs and you have to have your own limits of what you're prepared to do and for how long.
Just my thoughts.
I agree, but my point is , not to do with trust & insecurities, but to make online dating as realistic to real life as possible.
pat8lanips: to quote One... With so many choices & the fact that we are still here, what does that say about us?
There are maybe half a dozen Australian women on here posting, I'd be too young for 4 of them, the others would be either too far away or not a match for me. Seriously, do you buy the first car you see a picture of on the internet? I wouldnt, I'd be checking out several different cars, and test driving a few. Sure, the car dealer would much prefer me to buy whatever he says is the right car for me, and if he has a jealous tantrum the last thing I'd do is reward him with my business.
No doubt, but I would assume that most people who join an international dating site, are in a position to relocate, or at least , willing to travel.

Travel should be on the list as it is essential to meet in person, relocation takes long time to decide and test drive the relationship first is a must...
pKrema: But then again, you only know what you've been told... The truth is always out there...
I never had a problem with a scammer, and CS is my first experience in that field... They are extremely easy to spot...
My point is, there are many people who use dating sites with no intention of dating, especially Ines with forums, with people using them to kill time through boredom, or loneliness.

Why presume that?
You don't know how people are dealing with their business behind the scenes.

I have no intention of dating. It isn't because I am bored or lonely. It's because I like different opinions and seeing different perspectives.
But I am upfront about it, I won't and don't play games with people. But the amount of guys who think they can change my mind is frustrating.
One2note: No & im sure there are a lot of success stories, but I'm sure there are more failures than successes, reading through recent blogs.
Don't forget that there are only a handful of people on blogs and forums compared to the amount of people on the site... There are probably countless successful stories that will never be shared...

So honesty does not always work. See?
I'm not talking about your personal agenda.. If you choose not to date, then that's your choice & people should respect that.
I dont think its possible to differentiate between serious daters and time wasters, majority of people are in a kind of denial. I'll admit to being a time waster most of the time, but if something tasty came along...happy times!
