I must say i believe it's impossible to feel ''real love'' on the web.

I do know it is possible to meet people on the internet, which can lead to us finding our true love when we meet that person. But i'm talking about long-distance relationship here.

I HAVE been through it some time ago, and i also see so many people that are in an internet relationship and believe they are deeply in love with each other while they NEVER actualy met. People are NEVER themselves on the internet! you can try as hard as you want you will never act as if it happened for real. How can you be really in love with someone you don't even know? Everything you can feel on the internet is only a pseudo-feeling of the internet ''world'' you create.

I could go on and pull out many other reasons why i believe ''real love'' can't exist on the internet, but i want to have your opinion. Do you believe it can exist or not?

(for those that say that some internet relationship do work even in real life, i say it's just a coincidence, the same odds of picking someone you get along with in the street, your class or your work.)

Edit: I just hate it when people claim ''true love'' when they actually never met each other. They just can't even face the fact that their ''relationship'' is brittle, and often end up secluding themselves from the outside world, which has FAR more possibilities and options than the internet.cats meow

only possible if you actually believe it is. Many success stories exist all around the world. Just believe.

For me a relationship can't begin until I can touch, smell and taste someone.

Ooooooo touch an smell an essensce etc important as. I wouldn't form relationship with someone if in meeting person it doesn't feel right. But we could meet them anywhere an when we least expect ? Even from the net. I myself have met a couple of women off the net. And had relationships from there. We figured we wanted different kind of person in the end really. But if I didn't give it a go. I'd still be kicking myself. Now I can look forward to future meetings knowing we tried. peace peace

Who am I to tell people what they feel or the relationships they start to build online.

Nobody, because at the end of the day what they feel is what they feel and for the record. I do think it's possible to develop feelings for someone online. I should know my last relationship started online and went to reality. We even got engaged.

So it can happen. If two people really want it to happen. After all, you're online anyway and if you are open to it. Why not.

An element of the mysterious is desirable because you get to imagine the other person much better than they really are. Many a relationship has died by becoming too real, the truth is that romance is better than both of you in reality.

But on the practical level a complete fantasy becomes inoperable, you have to shut it down.

Maybe the feelings they have are very strong? Which perhaps make them feel like they are. After all the longer in reality you spend with someone the more your feelings either deepen or strengthen. I am no expert though.

Well the OP is talking about LDRs here, so I guess if one has bucketloads of money and unlimited time to throw at it, maybe conversing

Yes, it is possible, but you'll never know if you don't face the other one in reality...
All the rest is an excuse...
We might be photos on here but we all are flesh and blood and we have feelings too...
If you want to keep it as a fantasy, fine, if you dare you can make it real...
It's up to you what you want to make out of it...
