One of the reasons there are so many Americans living in West Asian countries, is because they can buy generic medicines at way cheaper prices than their home countries.
The UK has an excellent prescription system, a fixed price for all medicine, and often free for certain age groups or pregnant women. The charge for a single prescription item is £8.80 (About $11), a three month PPC costs £29.10 (just over $35) and a 12 month PPC £104.00 (about $133). So maybe some can see why Obama wanted to do a similar system. But the greedy uncaring faction stopped it.
The NHS was started by the UK Labour party in 1948, the best thing a socialist government has ever done, previously medical treatment was paid via insurance. It is financed through tax, so the rich pay more than the poor, a very fair and humane system
