I've tried ICQ....hated it. I like using IRC, but most people don't know what the heck I'm talking about. Seems most use MSN, Yahoo, or something of that sort. I have a cam too, but I've never used it. Is one better than another for use with a webcam?

Thanks in advance.

I use both msn and yahoo. If you use a mac computer or correspond with someone who does ... cam is not supported by msn - it works in yahoo though.

I hate IMing. I'd rather just exchange emails. Emails can be exchanged almost as quickly as IMing anyway.

I hate one-liners. I don't talk that way in real life. Usually when I converse with people in real life we each say quite a bit when it's our turn to talk. So I see exchanging emails as a better representation of a real conversation anyway.

Thanks for your replies. Anyone ever use Trillion<sp>? I've been using the internet for almost 15 years and to think, I'm just now getting interested in IM software. A wee bit behind the times aren't I?

Trillian is good. It hosts all your IM's in one spot. Like msn, yahoo, aol, icq ect - I did not like it cause I like using my webcam. Other than that it is ok.

I just go with yahoo, but yahoo sucks sometimes due to the crazy updates causing my dumb computer to go nuts. Eh, but it works

I started out with icq way back in it's early stage before AOHell got their grubby paws on it. Since AOHell got it, it's gone downhill. Haven't gotten around to installing it on this comp which I've had for almost a year now.

I use Yahoo messenger mainly now and also have MSN which is very rarely turned on. Also use cam and mic. Most of my family and close friends use it

Don't care for Trillion. People can add you to their lists without your permission.

Have also used mIRC several times

I am using gaim on linux, and I like it.

like trillian on windows, it handles multiple protocols: yahoo, msn, icq, and aim as well as irc and jabber.

there is a windows port of gaim, but I am not familiar with it.
I use trillian on windows.
