Silence is probably the best way to show you are not interested...
And even better make sure you have something you are attracted to in the person before making face to face contact... It will save you the trouble...

Interesting thread. A few responses are getting my comment.

First of all, "most men (or women" blah blah really doesn't work. You are going to have to craft it into an idea that will work. There were some good tips in the replies IMHO.

I'd unfriend on the antisocial network right away. Facebook is gossip on steroids, I think. But that would shut off comments that are bothering you.

Then make a hard call personally, saying just what you've said here in 100 words or less. Explain if challenged that your mind is made up. Fini, c'est fini. Then say, "so long." and hang up.

For further attempts delete or block. When you block on a US cell phone it gets all the methods and remains even if you delete as a contact.

If you pass on the street, a simple hi or wave will suffice but keep moving. If confronted say, "I gotta run, have a nice day.".

Forthrightness is the best policy. Keep it brief and to the point and don't get engaged in your defense. Take further steps to remove the annoyance if necessary. His fixation will pass.

Sorry, like Bruce Springsteen said....

I learned in school to avoid obfuscation (Mark Twain).

And you are misinformed about the French. I find them warm and friendly, unlike some neighbors to the north.

Being pursued is better than being chaste, I think.

Tulefell: Is there any?

I’ve had a date for a couple of years ago, we drunk a couple of glasses of red and talked for a couple of hours. The man was (perhaps still is) a good conversationalist, nothing controversial, nothing disturbing, no sharp edges and … nothing to remember or look forward to.

We agreed to go paddle together, he failed to show (due to excess alcohol consumption a day before that, my guess) and I found myself feeling a relief. I do prefer paddle alone.

We never met again: I said no to all his suggestions. But nonetheless, he took upon himself to make hints in his comments on FB as if he knows more about me, than he really does, as if we are a couple and meet regularly. I seldom react on his comments. I take my time to answer his private messages, if I do it at all. I never return his calls.

Isn’t that obvious that I am not interested in him? What signs of rejection do men understand?
come any closer and i will pepper spray you should workthumbs up

Neighbors is a American spelling fact. American English does not exist fact. The fact you add English at the end (American English) is a complete joke. Changing the spelling of a few words does not mean you've created a whole new language. American English does not exist and that's a fact

Most of us understand cutting contact, and telling us you're not interested.

We also understand that humble bragging about unwanted interest while throwing us under the bus as being defective for not reading your mind when you fail to communicate like an actual adult is a little dirty.

Yes, you are right. And soldiers worldwide still stand in ranks, wearing bright red uniforms. How brash of me to think of the US as other than a colony.

Right oh good chap. Jolly well, eh? Pip pip. Is it time for tea yet?

I didn't tell him directly that I'm not interested, I'm just declined all his suggestions for the second date. About half of dozen of them. I thought it's clear enough, my fault.

I didn't see it as bragging until you said so, but yes, there's always another angle to every situation. Should have known that admirers come in different shapes and count my blessings in silence.

I agree about forthrightness, but his hints, his behaviour are elusive. And I already said no to his attempts to meet again.

I don't want to "unfriend" him on FB, it wouldn't stop him make inaprropriate remarks about me. Well... I guess, I'll leave it as it is for now in the lack of a better solution.

What were the inappropriate remarks. One person's inappropriate remark is another's compliment
