pKrema: May be we are too arrogant to believe nothing was possible without technology and sometimes it brings a wonder how on Earth ancient people survived...if we can not even function without smart phones and cars...
Everything we have today has been in someone's mind centuries ago...
But then again isn't it even more arrogant to think we are the only advanced creatures in the Universe?!
why the only advanced creatures in the universe? homo sapiens has been around some 40 to 50 thousand years already - is it not perhaps possible ( based on the archeological ) that there could have been a more advanced civilisation existing on this earth at some time in the past?

Rogerandout: I like to think of are past ancestors as more intelligent. To think of a way doing things for the first time Take a lot off intelligence.
i agree but what do you propose might have become of this intelligence because apart from the archeology we don't have much other tangible proof of their knowledge

hi stringman thanks for your comments but how does being a giant account for the precise and advanced technology (eg.cutting into granite + alignment) of these "monuments"

rockymarciano: hi harbal esq.compliments of the season.what i'm trying to say is that i can't really conceive the idea of some"one" getting onto a craft, coming all the way to earth, constructing a few enormous buildings from stone and then just leaving and never coming back.could it not be humans on earth at some stage in the past had the knowledge and the means to do these constructions and that somehow or in some way this knowledge was lost. this sounds more conceivable to me
I agree. Cataclysmic events can wipe out technology. One good blow from the Yellowstone Caldera and the world is a goner, we are back to square one. One event in history is truly one of the saddest was the burning of the Library of Alexandria. I suspect had it not been destroyed, would have explained much.

rockymarciano: when viewing ancient ruins it is often presumed that earth must have been visited by "ancient aliens" of a higher intelligence to have been able to create these incredible phenomena.i am now in my late sixties and in my short lifespan there have been so many incredible advances, discoveries and inventions made that the world is not the same place today that it was when i was much younger and i then wonder - if we could achieve so much advancement in say the past 1,000 years then what was homo sapiens doing 5,10 or 15 thousand years ago.surely they could not just have been waiting for the 20th century with it's technology to arrive.
today there is a a strong belief that many of the more famous ruins like the pyramids of egypt, baalbek and much of the ruins in south america were constructed upon a pre-existing site and many of the carvings seem to depict flying craft of one sort or another.
i'm not discounting the possibility that there might have been some extraterrestrial intrusion though i cannot surmise as to how or from where but what i am proposing is that maybe there was no need for extraterrestrial intrusion but that early mankind had the knowledge on their own to build these enigmatic structures.
I understand what you mean and , and visiting Puma Punku/ Tiwanaku area, I can see understand what you saying.

To claim alien build it is the same as clamming "monkeys" build it, as the first we have no way to prove it; the second they would need technology/understanding that we dont have yet, or we lost them.

We know little about about ancestors and how did we" originated".

There are quite a few examples in the world that we can not "explain" - Göbekli Tepe, Baalbek Megaliths, or Sacsayhuaman - one of most complex.

von Däniken has some provoking ideas, and does build a good case. but no solid "proofs". interesting books to read and to open mind to other options .

hi bogart must have been absolutely amazing to visit these sites.i share your thoughts entirely it's kinda arrogant to think that we are the most advanced generation in over 40 thousand years since the dawn of homo sapiens

i agree and that destruction is very much like the present day ongoing destruction of ancient ruins and artifacts in the middle east in particular
