That's true because our mothers set the example of what a wife is. I followed my mothers example and wish I hadn't because my mother worshiped her husband. She bought him every car he ever wanted, diamond ring for anniversary. She gave him more food than her children. She bought the good candy bars and hid them in her bedroom from her children. She made sure he had the best of everything over everybody else. She made sure when he walked in the door from a days work that dinner would be ready in 5 minutes of him coming in the door.

And I tried to do the same thing when I got married and he did expect it.

And after my divorce I was way too generous with men.

That sounds just like my Mom..she even cut my father's steak into bite size pieces for him...

My sister and I, are nothing like my mother...she was lucky, like I was...found men who treated us like equals....

Sounds like my mother and father. She gave and he took. Mom's life been a lot better though since he died (I know its a hard thing to say but its true).

That doesn't sound bad to me at all. It is pure and simple, the truth.

It wasn't until both my parent's became ill..that I saw the selfishness of my father...he was an extremely religious man..and my mother just did as he said to do.

He buckled when she was in pain...told her to pray...but, when the shoe was on the other foot....and he was in pain....non stop calls and texting to me of when I could get his pain meds.

Sad part, is you have to jump through hoops to get pain meds.....for people who really need them with terminal illnesses...Stop by oncologist office for prescription in AM...maybe ready to pick up by 8 PM...

She died 6 months before he did....He was lost without her...He truly was....He loved her, just did not treat her as an equal....

There wasn't much love with my parents, father was crooked all his life. Mom had to wade on him hand and foot like a youngster or he would make life in the house miserable.

Back in the Day started out as an environmental awareness discussion between the present and the past. I was getting into it. Then you guys changed to parents, bad parents, and finally bad husbands. it's been my observation that there have been plenty of difficult wives/mothers and difficult husbands/fathers. I just wish they would all recycle!
