MALT extract … as an alternative to coffee or any hot drink … not the soluble kind but the type you have to percolate like coffee in a cafetière. Delicious unsweetened as it has quite a mild taste. I make mine in a push down cafetiere directly with hot almond milk …
Then I did some research and found out some of the health benefits of Malt extract

Kefir, a friend of mine introduced me to it about a year ago. It has many health benefits and is easy to make. Most types of Kefir sold in the shops are made with milk or milk substitutes, but it can be made with water.

I need to get some new stuff so I can make it with water … last time I was using it I was making it with milk which my body no longer tolerates …
Do you think it can be made with almond milk Bod?
Yes I'm sure it can. I've never tried making it myself, but I'd I do I'll use oat milk.
"While kefir is typically made from cow’s milk, it can also be produced from the milk of other animals, such as goats or sheep, or from non-dairy milks."

snowlynx: Yes, I have. Beer and burgers have amazing health benefits....
You'll probably find the hops the beer is made off and the protein in the meat have good health benefits … I think they become a problem when "overdosing"

Cool!! It would have to be non dairy … I shall give it a go again!
germanspitz: Growing up at the beginning of the war we always had a spoonful of malt . It was the norm in those days along with Cod Liver oil.
My God I remember that a tablespoonful every day, but of course that was after the war for me, and we used to have a little bottle of milk every day at school, we also had concentrated orange juice. Oh my God I'm old
AI_1984: That sounds good Sel, but can you buy it as an instant drink? I mean in powder form that you can mix with milk?
Yes you can buy it "soluble" like instant coffee … it's possible to find other manufacturers than Nestlé too.... not sure how much of the properties it retains in the process to make it soluble …
I fist tried it as an instant drink then discovered it can be made like fresh coffee and found some in an Eco shop ... I prefer the after taste of the fresh ground version
