And communication is a good part of having a healthy relationship. I do try to work on the art of conversation regulary. Things I have found with myself is I am good at talking AT people not to them. Also listening. Listening is part of communicating which is the main ingrediant in converstion. I have to sometime make myself stop my mind from running a million miles a second and force it to listen to what is being said. Comprehending.....I sometimes have to say what, or read a few times before I can release what I am wanting to hear to actually hear what is being said. These are a few of the things I work on daily. That and coming off sounding like a drill sargent I have an idea what conversation is, I just am unable to participate in one without practicing a few things that seem to want to evade me.
I think I know what you mean, Happy. Superficial conversations where none of the participants are really listening to, or making much effort to understand one another, seem very unrewarding to me. On the other hand, some seem to prefer the back and forth volleying of meaningless trivia. There seem to be more of the second category here.
