Margaret did the best she knew how yes folk could buy there council houses ---but no instruction to renew the stock.

She sold ship building down the river, only repairs done in our ship yards.

Fishing industry down the river or should i say sea

coal industry GONE

Yep the lady did good in some things poll tax got her. I had three sons and as soon as they left school even though they still lived with me they were hammered. Or should i say i was, i sent them off to the forces. They all did okay learnt a trade etc.

Boris has done his best to regain power over law, fishing where we can sell goods to.
Stopping over fishing in our waters, stopped the tipping of fish in the seas because they were over the limit.

Then covid who could have predicted that, i reckon he has done his best stirred old stalwarts up a bit. Got married had two babes, (busy man) laugh
But sadly when this is all evened out a bit brexit done and dusted covid hopefully the same he will be ousted.

Youcannow: Ok, so you’re putting a negative spin on the way she revolutionised the economy.
First of all , she gave the opportunity for people to buy their own council houses on the cheap (?some even as low as £10, 000 this giving them a chance to get on the property ladder.
The unions were crippling the country to an extent that British was falling into recession.
Selling off & privatising public resources meant that the ordinary people were given free shares , which they later sold off at a substantial profit .
That also encouraged a vast amount of foreign investment which made Britain the financial capital of the world .
She was also responsible for the “good Friday” peace agreement, which gave both parties power and allowed the south a say .

I could go on , but it’s Thatcher who put Britain firmly on the global map .

Maybe you should do a bit of reading because not one word of the above is correct or even remotely factual.

ChesneyChrist: They weren't her houses to sell and that generation had no right to loot them. Same goes for the utilities and to a lesser extent north sea oil. In Norway that still pays dividends right up until this very day, for all of its people.
I don’t think she sold the houses personally.
It gave Many people, who couldn’t buy privately the opportunity to get in the property ladder .
I think that policy won her the election.

As for the utility sell off . It was given to the public as shares . Working class people made a mint after selling them .

There was not point keeping industries that were being held to ransom by the unions & losing millions by the day .

It doesn’t make economic sense , plus it was crippling the taxpayer.

Houses were a lot more affordable back then than they are now. (a typical 40k house in the late 80's in the SE of England is now worth over 300k and salaries/wages haven't kept up with those price hikes)..and what's happened to all those privately owned houses? They're being bought up hand over fist by vulture funds/investment funds/property manangement/developers and rented out at seriously extortionate rents to those who can't afford to buy houses.....and driving them even further into poverty...

Had she not sold those houses, and built more council houses instead there's be less homelessness today, as well as poverty, crime and all the peripheral fear that goes along with those things....

Then add crippling council tax on top....

All she's done is destroy lifes and if not destroyed them then dragged their quality of life way down and made their lives far more miserable that they should be ..How does that equate to her being a great leader??
