So, my friend just called and she’d received a call (international number) saying Amazon had just removed $1100.00 from her bank account, which is on a debit card. She’s worried— I told her it’s likely a scam. She checked her account, doesn’t show as such, but she’s still concerned. Is this part of the on- going scams we’re all aware of? Anyone?

I really don’t think she has anything to worry about, but I wish to comfort her…thanx

We get that here Roh. It's a scam. If the money had been removed from a debit acc it would show immediately.

She shouldn't call that number back because it's probably a way to get her information. If she calls them they will ask for her account number and then her goose is cooked. She should call Amazon directly to let them know about the call.

I have my debit card set up to notify me if over a certain amount is removed from my account the bank will send me an email

I don’t think you should make a thread about something so personal.

Look . Anyone with half a brain would tell the person in question to check her account details.
I don’t know what advice you would want from us that would differ from that !

Well , if you need help for something so trivial & easy to deal with , then you’re even more daft than I thought .

It's alright rohaan, no worries it's a scam designed to worry
(to make her do something towards them).

Dunnu about the rest of the world but on this we're tech advanced: net bank.
You log in and get access to all banking you have to your bank, instantly.
See it all and can block your own cards if need be.

I can also call a number 24/7 and get the balance without talking to a human.

A family member of mine received a similar call saying their company had taken money from his CC. He immediately cut the call.

Sort of knew this was a scam call. Checked the cc and no funds taken.

Old and vulnerable people do fall for these scams and hand over personal info and end up losing lots of money.

So sad ??

Thanks, and you are right. This exact scam is going on a bunch…of course I was sure, and did tell her to check her accounts, but she was worried there was a “time gap” problem. Thank you for your input- I was able to ease her anxiety because of you and polite other members. Heck, even Mikey chomped the bit on this one and was ..nice. ..sort of…laugh
