ChesneyChrist: The problem with political correctness is that it pisses everyone off. If you're the minority you'll discover that it is an illusion and the new boss is really the same as the old boss. And the old folks are pissed off because it looks like their state doesn't discriminate against minorities. Old folks take the kneeling at face value and they think it means that black kids won't get locked up for stealing a bun, and the younger end can see through that because they experience what actually happens. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
There is one more element to this: rebelling against the conservatives, as they see it.
Like taking it all out- finally!! No more you "patriarchigal far right christian dark ages azzholish discriminatory..."etc. Step aside!
Meant as a punch in their faces. Problem is... they are missing the target, cos most of them don't stand for that! And there is the overkill factor too.

The businesses or gov comply cos they are afraid not to.
One side sees political correctness as the lady doth protest too much makes it look like you've got something to hide. And the other side believes its lying eyes confirming all their deepest fears.
To be honest I don't think political correctness is even that political anymore. Really it is just business, all manners are fake and in business manners are super fake.
ChesneyChrist: Political correctness is the elite teaching the masses a new set of manners.
I don't think so. It's more like a smokescreen. Maybe populism. A trend, the latest. Has hardly any substance, except to spread fear. Some sort of tyranny. Only it doesn't work on everybody. I'm allergic to it. Doesn't mean I can't like some of the values baked in there, sure I can. But it's the delivery.
Political correctness does not open your mind, it closes it if you let it.
jac_the_gripper: Nobody who is a part of the problem has the right to be not interested.
Not biting on your hook this time. Sorry.
Besides, I think you are part of the problem of pc culture run amok. I ain't. I on the other hand is describing you the problem, the way I see it.
How do you see it, tell me that. Not gonna answer your questions intended to lead me down a path of your choice. I know you too well by now, 11 years in Jac. Still love you, but will not take your bate as often nowadays.

Have this instead:
Protest is inherently antagonistic because it challenges the accepted norms. There is no right way to protest, as even a demonstration picnic is about pushing a boundary.
When we object to protest, or change, we are attepting to maintain a status quo whether that's oppressing others, or our planet. It's easy to latch on to the objections that are hand fed to us through the media because it's effortless and painless for us.
We are all complicit in oppression and the destruction of the planet. Just by having a device to post here we are using the Earths resources, creating waste products, contributing to unethical practises of manufacture/extraction of raw materials and threatening other people's homes/livelihoods/lives/cultures.
We already have historical templates of what happens when people claim they didn't know, were just following the societal rules, just wanted to get on with their own lives, or were protecting themselves and their families.
It is incumbent upon all of us to acknowledge our contribution to harm and do what is within our power to create change. Listening to others is a big part of that.
The question is, what does it cost us to listen? Why is that so difficult?
It is not just my opinion but Johnny Depp lost his case in the UK because of a biased judge there who overlooked all of Heard's lying including her lying trying to get a dog into Australia which I am told is no small issue there. And God forbid, The judge exploited any substance Depp was accused to have used and later admitted to have used. So there you go, a single biased judge allowed Depp to be ruined while an honest Jury unanimously found Heard to be a liar and for lack of any forensic evidence to support her case.
I have a prediction though..... I doubt Heard, because of all her obvious lying and harm she caused another person, will have much luck acting in Hollywood for awhile. So, to help Heard, being a single-parent raising a young child, Depp will probably waive the monetary judgement on her. I think Johnny Depp is happy to have cleared his name and reputation. Thank you cs for letting me share my opinions here.
