Yes , but you can come & go as you please, or even choose to live in the north , whereas Cyprus is divided with no Greek Cypriots allowed to live , or even claim their land back . A big difference .

Parking .
You literally have to pay for parking everywhere you go , whether it be a supermarket car park , where you’re buying their products , even to park outside your house , and worst of all , in a hospital car park , even in an emergency visit .

Some states (or certain areas and towns of some states) charge a fee for people to use a public park/playground. Camping used to be no cost in most of the Pacific Northwest, now it's about $30.00 to $50.00 a night. I think these kinds of activities should be no cost. jmo

Or at least limited to a few euro per day to keep out opportunistic parking by others....cover the cost of a warden to ensure only service users gain access

There is a "chain" of laundro-mats that sells 'cards' with varying amounts on them. Here is how it works: you must pay one dollar to GET the card from the machine. You then must insert the card, and say, a ten or twenty, which loads onto the card. The washers are about six dollars (YES!) and dryers vary from about two to five dollars PER LOAD. (you lose the original dollar, btw). Not saying washing clothes should be free, but FFS! About ten bucks to do a small load!

footnote: In the small apartment and duplex buildings, here, the machines still take quarters, and the washer is generally $1.50-$2.00, and dryer $.50 to $.75.

This is true...I'm probably the worlds best opportunist--I find great deals. My co-op is only at 2/3 the going rate.....and it's a nice duplex. Yes, I'm a very fortunate guy...good to see you, btw....you handsome old booger..wink

Try Freedom Laundromat in the Empire area, near Ocean and Newmark. Did my stuff there for almost 3 years. About the same price as you quoted, they take quarters and have bigger machines. professor

OnTopic… Door charge to see bad local bands. If the performance was actually good, I wouldn’t mind, but I’m going to the pub for a drink or three, maybe some food too. But to pay to see really bad covers of songs that weren’t originally that good to begin with just feels wrong. Perhaps they should rehearse more before subjecting the public to a fee, just to have a social drink? The Mill has better bands, better food and drink, yet no cover to just walk in. /rant

Although I don't get out in evenings much, the bands here in Coos Bay are better than one might expect. ("Aurora", "Timberwolf"). I guess if you pay and hear a not so good band, tell the venue owner, or just watch the kiosks and don't go when they're playing... I hear what you're saying, btw....handshake
