Geeez ... Who is tracking if and when a car. What if someone else authorized uses your car for their purpose. Are electric powered cars taxed like this too? Who gets to use the 12.50? Does greta thornburg make an appearance every time a car is used and shout 'how dare you.' confused

That's what I want to know. How will they know when anyone drive their car to pay the fine?

If so just use the tube. It is cheaper and safer.

Thieves in governments.

It’s to do with the reduction of emissions.

“Petrol cars that meet the ULEZ standards are generally those first registered with the DVLA after 2005, although cars that meet the standards have been available since 2001
Diesel cars that meet the standards are generally those first registered with the DVLA after September 2015”

It also applies to all other vehicles such as lorries, vans, motorcycles etc.

When the poll tax was introduced it caused riots and mayhem, but eventually that all passed. Though it was abolished in 1991 I think.

Well who are the eejits that keep re-electing Khan .....no matter how far he drags London down into the gutter he still gets re elected... maybe this ULEZ might be what gets rid of him. It's before the courts at the minute so keep your fingers crossed that the judge takes a pragmatic approach

1984. There are cities in the US where they ban cars from certain areas at certain times. And charge so much to park to discourage cars. We have some states with toll roads too. Of course roads are not maintained.frustrated
The joke is with all the bull about reducing carbon, this year the carbon has GONE UP! With the aging population in countries, and the rural nature of the US, how are people supposed to get to where they have to go?
I would like a bus to go by me. Fat chance. What is dumb is in winter the school bus passes twice a day. How simple to hop on it. Hire a taxi? $15 to get to town and $15 to get back home. Guess one has to do all the shopping only at one store cause otherwise have to pay to change stores and haul what you buy.
While we cut back, China builds a new coal fired plant per WEEK!doh very mad

I fully get it...we ve got 3 or 4 greens in the government like the tail wagging the dog. Carbon taxes galore and rising every year .....taxes on new cars ruled illegal by the EU......car imports taxed to the hilt..... shut down peat powered generation and hoping it stays windy enough for power..... importing peat from eastern Europe for horticulture instead of our own..... EU signing free deals with South America to import beef more than half way around the world....all about shifting the carbon footprint somewhere else.... threatening to cut back on agriculture due to unproven links to methane while offsetting carbon sinks in land with other industries.....and the elephant in the room is the lungs of the planet being cut away along the Amazon causing the weather changes we have now and everything deflected away from it frustrated

Peatlands are a unique ecosystem that support biodiversity and serve as carbon sinks. Peat releases huge amounts of stored carbon dioxide when it is harvested, which adds to greenhouse gas levels. Peat mining is effectively unsustainable – it grows back at just 1 mm a year.

Basically speaking peatlands are great if left to collect carbon but if industrially harvested they release carbon into the atmosphere. A no win situation.handshake

I agree it's a no win situation but isn't it a bit rich stopping it here and importing it from countries bordering Russia or in that general area..... that adds to emmissions by having to ship it in ....if it can be shipped in the amount harvested here would be quite small given that peat power generation is gone
Similar to importing beef from Brazil and aid and abet them destroy the Amazon basin .....

It's the wrong way around.
First everyone who's against the oil should stop buying everything that's produced or delivered using oil and gas.
Stop the lorries entering and leaving Britain by the hundreds a day.
Stop the factories work.
Stop life. Become immortal.
The planet will still do what it's due to do.
Get rid of idiots.
