This "mother" (term used loosely) went on a 10 day vacation with her boyfriend and left her 16 month old baby home alone in the playpen.

The baby didn't have any milk or food nor was it getting it's diaper changed. It tried to eat it's own feces because it was so hungry.

Mothers kill their baby in various ways but I never could imagine a mother doing this. This child died a long and painful death, afraid and alone, while her mother enjoyed the beach and sun with her boyfriend.

This story is gut wrenching. The judge gave her what she deserves for torturing her 16 month old child. I'm glad that she got a life sentence rather than the easy way out. I hope that she suffers beyond belief each day while in prison.

When she goes to prison I don't think she will be hanging around with the women chatting and laughing in a knitting circle.

There seems to be a horrifying 'trend' of a parent leaving a child in a car--(often resulting in the child's death). The current annual rate averages 38. One incident, some years back, was a very busy professional woman. She was actually treated very gently by the judge. But then, she turned around and sued her employer, stating that their policy of not having a cell phone 'on' during meetings was the real cause, because had her cell phone been on, the day-care would have called to find out why the child was absent, and she would have then remembered that the child was in the car. (!!!) Another 'let's blame someone else, anyone else, for your errors...I believe the lawsuit didn't make it...(I certainly hope and pray so...) Of course this isn't the same as leaving a baby to starve. I DO think 'forgetting' your infant/toddler is in the car is an error you CANNOT make!

Utterly disgusting highest form of child cruelty and neglect she (mother) got what she deserves I am sure she won't have a warm welcome from other inmates and rightfully so

She'll be a punching bag, for sure. Inmates operate on a "your crime is worse than mine" program, and mete out the punishments they feel like doing. Often, the wards and matrons look the other way.

I think the idea is reforming or at least getting her to realize the err of her judgment would still be considered...however there will not be any people feeling sorry for her...I wonder where the father is?...
It seems that birth control and abortion are not something society needs...I just wonder how some people/governments can be so stanch in their ideology considering not everyone thinks about this kind of tragedy before it is too late...
It is truly horrible that a person whatever the circumstance can leave a baby alone...and for that long not to think that harm could happen...

sigh

I actually understand your point. I'm just a human--and a forgiven one at that --(We are all in error ..."there is none righteous, no, not one...") So it would be remiss of me to not have some compassion seeing that Christ has compassion for me.....We DO live in a society where we must address grievous crimes and behaviors, so, mankind MUST set some rules and standards, or else it will be total chaos. Thank you for your post and seeing this in a manner that escapes many. thumbs up

What this woman did isn't about birth control because she is an evil woman who thinks of no one but her own comfort. She didn't make a mistake and leave the baby on the back seat in her car. She made a CHOICE to leave the baby alone to fight for it's last breath and subsequently die of malnutrition.

The Bible says........Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So, will she die of not being able to breath. Will she die of never getting another morsel of food. She won't die of malnutrition because even though prison food is bad at least she will get something to eat. And I will pay for it. I will pay for the cot she sleeps on at night. I will pay for the doctor and dentist she needs. I will have to pay for her medication. My taxes will pay for everything needed to keep her alive.

I would gladly pay for the medication to fill the three vials when she lays down on the gurney and takes her last breath the same way her baby did.
