i've tried to give blood and checked into organ donation. nope, can't do it. because of the fact of i had cancer and a blood infection. but, i sure would if i could.

I've always had an "issue" with this...
I love the fact that i could possibly change someone's life for the better by donating my organs should i be in a fatal accident or something....the one thing i worry about though for myself and my loved ones that are donors...is what if they don't do enough to try and save you because they "need" that live donation...

If my death could save another life then my life had purpose.
Just hours before coming out of the coma in 1989 my family was consulted about the possibility of pulling the plug and my organ/tissue donations.
I was legally brain dead but then a miracle happened and I am here to tell the story.

i would be willing to donate bone marrow, a kidney, and even part of my liver if someone needed them...
i plan on having them use every spare part i have when i die, then sending the rest to a college A&P class.

There is one thing I loathe with a passion - needles.
But I put myself through hell every three months to donate blood.

I once went for a course of injections in preparation for an Asian adventure, and in the end, after the first two visits, they would actually lie me on the bed so when I passed out, I wouldnt fall off the chair!

why is it that to join the registry for, say...bone marrow donation...one has to pay?

Here in the UK its free to make any donation.
In fact for some stuff they will pay you for your time.
But that is shameful.

it's free to donate blood here...which i do regularly...
they do pay for plasma donations...
you'd think for something as painful as a bone marrow donation, they'd at least cover the freaking medical costs.
