I'm not sure about deceit just being a tool that is not good or bad. Tool yes, but I never heard a story of someone that had been lied to that felt the lie was good in any fashion. Most of the time people will do it to protect someone. Or so they think. In other cases its telling that "caught a large fish" story to fit in. Funny thing though, lies eventually get exposed and seems like everyone loses in the ends, especially the one that told the lie in the first place.

For me, honesty. Truth hurts but lies hurt even worse.

Well, you are going to have the same chance of finding a dishonest person in person. I find that most people after a while will show their true character..good and bad..

I have been told many lies, that I could see the good in. Most of them were lies of kindness, or lies to make me like them, and while I think it is a missguided act, I can see the goodness in the intent.

Many, if not most, lies are not exposed. That's just something people tell each other, to calm the fear of the unkown, or to dissuade others from lieng.

People are people. You can tell honesty as well as dishonesty in cyber as well as in peron if you play it smart. You DO meet real people that inspire you on the net!!

I think the statistics are in all probability accurate....just slightly higher - leaning towards the dishonest side....

I do think that dishonest is a broad term for what you actually come across with regards to "internet" dating...because its not always to the extreme...sometimes they are genuine in who they are, but have been dishonest about small things such as age and appearance...

"Dishonesty" exists when meeting men not only on the internet, however the internet does provide more of a sense of "anonymity" for such people (men and women) so they feel more confident in projecting themself "bigger than life"....of course that is short lived if they're ever going to meet someone face to face...
