You do not have to go, do both.
There are many many people that have changed their lives for the better. You are just as able to have all you want from life.
The mind is like a glass of water. If the glass is filled with mud, it cannot support life. By adding clear water the mud will be diluted little by little until you have a clear glass of water which will support life.
Negative thoughts are mud. Sound thoughts of a positive nature are clear water. You must work hard to not put in mud and put in as much clear water as you can. In time all will be clear.
The glass was never the problem only the focus on the negative. Soon the water was muddy and only mud was being picked up. What the mind looks for it will find. You change what the minds looks for and it will find good things.
It takes hope and goals supported by faith and belief. You will make it. Best of luck to you!

Also, I won't be cliff jumping (as much as I want too) because I'm going to consoling tomorrow. Those I care deeply for have my phone number, so anything really bad happens, they'll know about it. So I won't be entirely forgotten...I know most of ya'll would like that.
