I am liberal too and accept other opinions, as long as they are equal to mine.

Actually, I have looked at the argument and I have seen people against the war do a lot of personal attacking and name calling. It is no better to try to ram your facts down their throats...it's called fighting, not debating.

That's the problem. They're not "my" facts. Facts are facts.

Nettermann, why do you find that funny..."I am liberal too and accept other's opinions as long as they are equal to mine." That is hypocritical. But I was pointing that out. You are no better than the other person who doesn't want to accept your opinion or listen to your facts and if you stay and try to ram your facts down their throat that is called fighting...you are no better.

Ok, you clearly have no idea what I was talking about which is sad in itself. There is no point in trying to explain it to you again.

I just want to emphasize one thing. No one ever said that the U.S. is the worst country. Yes, there are countries that have the problems you listed. But many do not and America is just one of them. That does not make it THE greatest country. That's all we are saying.

By the way, I don't drink alcohol.

One thing I admit is that we grossly generalized the word "American". That's because most people know who was addressed with that and because the people who usually brag about God and country are the ones who think they are the "real" Americans. There are certainly other Americans who would agree with what I and many other people on this thread have posted so far. I applaud people like plarkin who are not afraid to speak their mind even if that means to disagree with his own government and many fellow citizens. That actually makes him even more patriotic because he is willing to admit that not everything is rolled in honey and points out the problematic issues in an effort to improve them and his country. Wielding a gun and a flag doesn't automatically make you patriotic. Those are just symbols. Trying to make a difference is much more important.

speaking for my self - no intention - but still and unfortunately its a world issiue and not a US problem "to be resolved" (???? how ???) as a really incredible high Percentage of Americans still believe .. as long as that does not change - something is going sadely very wrong !

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Two retired Army major generals with experience in Iraq will appear in television commercials critical of President Bush's handling of the war, with the spots targeted at key Republicans in the House and Senate.

Financed by VoteVets.org, the $500,000 in ads will feature retired Maj. Gen. John Batiste and Paul Eaton, both of whom have publicly criticized the Pentagon's civilian leadership in the past. Batiste commanded the First U.S. Infantry Division in Iraq. Eaton oversaw training of the Iraqi military from 2003 to 2004.

The commercials, beginning Wednesday, are timed to coincide with congressional debate over the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

The media markets chosen by VoteVets are designed to pressure Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, John Sununu of New Hampshire, John Warner or Virginia and Norm Coleman of Minnesota, all of whom are up for re-election next year.

The ads also will run in the congressional districts of Republican Reps. Mary Bono of California, Phil English of Pennsylvania, Randy Kuhl and James Walsh of New York, Jo Ann Emerson of Missouri, Timothy Johnson of Illinois, Fred Upton of Michigan and Michael Castle of Delaware.

The ads represent the first time former military commanders in Iraq have appeared in commercials to criticize the conduct of the war.

Unfortunately its difficult to speak about world politics - when "some people" immediately take it as their exclusive home countries issiue - again and again ... still as they do so - I ask myself for whatever reason of their own political problems in their country - does that change the fact that World Policts have to stay a WORLD ISSUE when the whole world is involved - and so many people suffer and dye because others think the rest of the world has to stay out of it ???

Dont this people realize how presumtious and wrong this request is in itself to the rest of the world ? mumbling

A little reminder: you wanted to stand up by yourself (with a few British, a handful of Australians and one Polish). Nobody forced you to. In fact, you couldn't even get UN approval.
