I feel kinda sad.

My dad, a truly wonderful man, told me I need a break......... as if being retired isn't a break! lol

Anyway, he's offered to pay for me to go on a 12 day cruise from Bergen in Norway up past the Arctic circle and back again next month! Initially I was excited, then I thought about it, then I declined, and now I think I'll go - but it'll be a bit sad going on my own (but, there again, maybe I'll meet some beautiful young rich widow who can't have any kids on the cruise - yum yum!¬)

Should I go, or should I miss this fantastic opportunity?

Tell me what you'd do?

~smiles~

In Norway you will meet the midnight sun in the Arctic Circle area. The further north, or the higher you get, the season will be longer. There are very good possibilities to see 24 hour sunlight in our area. Or you can see the sun roll in the horizon at midnight to the north. From the end of June till the end of August it is possible to experience the Midnight Sun along our part of the coast from Nesna to Rødøy. professor

Ok Rusty knight,

Since noone answered...I will.

If I ever thought that this is a dilemma, I would shoot myself as it would mean that my brain turned into scrambled eggs!!

Of course you don't miss a fully paid cruise! And you say you feel "kinda sad"? You are not on your own, your wonderful dad will be with you...and as you said yourself there will be plenty of people to mingle with.

Just a tip...I would suggest that you do not aim so high when looking for women unless you are ready to be disappointed.

My dad can't go!

He and my mother did this cruise a couple of decades ago...my mother is paralysed after a massive stroke 3.5 years ago. my dad looked after her for 21 hours per day, every day until he also collapsed. A few years later, on their golden wedding anniversary, I couldn't even give them my best wishes as they were under canvas on a safari.

I am so lucky to have such wonderful parents. Yesterday my dad had the last of three tetanus injections after a nasty fall that caused a nasty gash in his head. They put on his card another date.....i complained 'He's had all three tetanus jabs now!' 'Oh' the nurse replied 'He needs another in 2017 in ten years time - dammit, he won't give a damn about tetanus jabs then when he'll be 98.5 years old - only people he bites will need a vaccination!

They are both doing great now and have excellent carers, nurses, physios, doctors and consultants in the family villa.

Robert P.S. I was joking about the rich widow.......... as long as she doesn't want any children, apart from me, 'she' is ok!

Kind of difficult to have children in your age bracket for a woman confused

Well .. id say go for the cruise...

Your father wants u to have a good time as there is little use for himto have the cruise..

If someone throws a opportunity at you to enjoy life.... just a little bit... it makes sense to take it and not feel guilty about it as it is after all a gift from your parent/parents to get out there and start enjoying what you have, your youth and your ability to use it to your advantage and experience something nice and wonderfull...

You never know tbh u could go on the cruise and find someone worthwhile, opportunity never knocks twice and doesnt consider returning back to a person who has passed on such a nice experience, Life and time is what YOU make of it... makes sense to use it to enjoy everything you have not yet experienced, it isnt and shouldnt be a issue of feeling guilty in any way...

wink just my way of looking at things

Go for it without a second thought!

Alone here, alone there, your chances of meeting someone are even greater whilst on holiday. Join the excursions, mingle with the people aboard. Everyone is always friendly on cruises and you never feel alone.

I have never been to a cruise alone but i met quite a few people when simply walking around alone wasting time in between ports. Take a couple of good books to read on your sunbed too :-)

Have fun and let us know when you return...... unless of course you logon to update us during the cruise!!!!

Robert amongst other things you say "For the lady who said I am rather old to be a father - I'll be able to father children way over the age she is all withered up inside (it's very unfair, but ladies do have the menopause and it can cause lots of irritability etc).......... "

First of all you mis-understood. She did not say YOU are rather old to be a father, she said LADIES in your age bracket would be.

As for the following comment! How dare you describe the menopause as "being all withered up inside" It made me angry and I haven't even been through it yet! I wouldn't like to be in the skin of any woman in this forum who has, and then reads your comment.

Is that all the respect you can summon up for women who have carried babies, mothered, loved, cherished, supported and encouraged their offspring to become independant contibutors of this planet (and still do)?

Shame on you! I couldn't give a toss about your cruise! I'm very inclined to think you made that post just to attract the attention of ladies, and certainely not because you are in a real predicament as to what to do. In other words "look at me ladies I'm so good hearted, I don't want to take advantage of my dad, isn't that generous of me...."

Ok I'll stop now!

First of all Brunette let me apologise for referring to you as SHE in my post to rusty as hell. I couldn't remember which lady he was referring to... kiss

Second, at least we didn't get fooled by his honeyed, snivelling, smarmy, creepy tones.

The comment about children does not in the least surprise me after what he said about more mature ladies.

C'mon then! Any young ladies stupid enough to fall for rusty as hell's cruise line? Go for it! laugh

Hi Flower,

No problem whatsoever. I could sense straight away that there was a wolf in sheep skin in the house. Respect is earned I beleive and the way this rusty as hell presented himself did not make much sense, so I said what I thought was right...as I always do!

This thread serves one purpose....show off how wealthy he is. Shame young girls fall for that sometimes!! devil
