Monday I noticed my cat was having difficulty breathing and he was wheezing when he inhaled. Took him to the Vet where they did blood work, chest x-rays and diagnosed him with feline asthma. They gave him a steroid shot to decrease the inflammation so he could breathe.

Total Vet bill was $300.00.

Would you pay that much to save your pet or was I foolish?

I know, I wouldn't. But then again, I wouldn't get a cat in the first place. It all depends on what is important to you and how much you can effort to spend for it. I think too much money is spent on pets that could be used to help real endangered animals, but that's just my opinion.

You aren't foolish.

Vets are very costly.

Cost me $1800 to have my dog fixed up after stepping on class,at christmas to boot.

If she was still with us and required the medical assistance,I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I don't even have insurance on myself let alone pet insurance. Didn't know there was such a thing.

But maybe I should look into it if this is going to be an ongoing health problem.

Foolish ? It's purely subjective. If you hated the cat then....

Hi,

I've paid that much for pet vet bills. I have two cats and one I'm especially
bonded with for whatever dunno reason. Maybe to pay that much on our
pets keeps spending on other things in some kind of perspective. If I spend
that kind of money on my pets maybe I can be generous about money in
other respects. Oh well, it works for me. laugh

You were kind and helpful. hug

I guess the bottom line for me is that my 2 kitties have been my only source of affection for the past 6 years. They depend on me to help them when sick and to care for them.

Perhaps it was foolish but I would do it again tomorrow if it would save their lives.

I love my kitties more than most people.

My cat loves me, I don't like him. So I have to fake it everyday.

Depends on how old the cat is. No use spending money on a 12 year old cat since they generally live to about 13.

Once you have done this, there should have ben no question about the wrong or right of it....the decision you made in the beginning was the correct one.

When I was married and Had Kids, Yeah, cause I wouldn't want them to think that every time an animal gets sick you just put it down.
Now a days, they either make it or they do not.

If its a pre-existing desease - you may not be covered.

Check with insurances anonymously before. If so, then chnge vet, where the cat has no history record. comfort
