in my country marriage is still very sacred and it is a kind of disgrace if you dont get married, although the trend like in the rest of the world is changing, marriages are failing, and separations are more common.. divorce is not legal in our country, since we are very religious... now thats a sarcastic ending isn't it!

I totally agree with you both my exhusbands changed once the wedding ring was on my finger, they both turned into control freaks. so for me marriage is a no go area ..
You know, you bring up a good question for someone like me who is at the end of a 20+ year marriage that was supposed to last "forever". Lately I've wondered if I might ever find someone to be married to again. But married or not I guess the important thing is to have a mate, a better half that you're happy with and who's happy with you. I suppose there are financial advantages, but that's no reason to get married. I have a gay cousin that for all practical purposes is married, and the lack of a formal piece of paper means nothing.
Be happy...enjoy life and don't sweat the small stuff.
