b_n_dGlasgow, USA60 Threads 3,675 PostsWhat's the big deal these days with getting married? Does it prove you love each other more then you already do? I think we are up to over 50% of all marriages fail. Funny how everyone thinks they are on winning odds of that. How many 50/50 raffle tickets have you bought in yout life, and lost? The cost of ending a marriage can about ruin your life. I have seen more and more people just living together. As a couple. So why the big deal over a piece of paper?

After my Second Marrage went into the toilet I swore I would never get married again, then I met my third wife, I married her for the medical benefits for my daughter so we could make sure she was taken care of.
We were married 14 years and had 2 daughters , both are healthy and very smart.

The list goes on, but primarily revolves around money...
However, if it does not work out, you end up broke anyway... So what is the damn point?

Been married 2 times... I am beyond paper, am house broken already.

I agree that if health insurance was an issue that might make good sense. Seeing as I don't do doctors, and I'm very knowledgeable on Natural healing, that shouldn't be an issue with me.

those of the younger set, agreed should get married for childrens sake and security.
however, those of us over fifty those that are not, well, invested with a portfolio and nice pension plans and close to retirement age it can be financial mistake.
and yes children when you start reaching that age where there is a limit on how much you can do and earn. money does matter.

Tell me about it, When you are in your twenties, it seems that's what's everyone else is doing. As we get older and smarter, we see things differently... I was with my ex for 20 years. Everything was fine, but when her psych issues took her over completely it had to end. These are thinhgs you can't prepare for. It cost me big time to divorce her. I should never have filed. That's the next issue. Don't file for a Divorce it will kill you. Just walk away

Don't think I will ever get married again. If I am at a point where I am totally in love with a guy and want to be with him all the time, I would rather live together then get married. Cheaper to leave too. lol

I don't think married or not is really am issue any more. A long term relationship is just about the equivalant. Everybody seems to be jumping in and out of either without much of a second taught. It either works or wham
In my opinion in a relationship that is going to involve kids then marraige is always the best option as it does give some sort of stabilty if things go sour.
