Yep! Sure does. I worked 13 yrs (12+ hrs a day) in front of a computer, my eyes progressively got worse each yr. My dr. told me each yr during my eye exam that the computers were not helping my vision at all.

You'll probably be surprised at how long you spend on the computer once you start keeping track of your time.

Since I no longer sit in front of a computer 24/7 (changed careers), my vision stopped changing... guess it was about time since I'm almost eligible to be considered legally blind.

so we shouldnt read??
(there are screenshields that may or may not help this
supposed effect on the eyes for sale at various stores)

my optometrist told me that near 40 and after its a constant slide downhill

i hate to buy into such ideas,
but soooo many people ive discussed this with
have experienced the same thing exactly around the same age

now there is also a school of thot that failing eyesight can be reversed
but thats a whole nother discussion
and i can tell you i did not have the desire/discipline to do my own study...

so -- long island
i guess ill be lookin better and better to ya hey?-

It probably doesn't help, but, I've had "downhill" eyesite from the age of 5 (measles), and then at 40, my eyes told me that I was never gonna thread a needle again. That was the start of bifocals.

However, a few years ago (with 20/400 uncorrected vision) I had cataracts removed and they placed lenses in at that time. I could not believe that from the very next day....my vision was bright and clear and, would you believe, 20/20.

Yes, when I get up from the computer, I feel the strain, but, after a good night's sleep, they seem to be right back up to par, and ready for more.

By the way, there are different glasses that you might need for reading the computer screen than for regular newspaper reading. Ask your eye doctor about the regular "readers" they sell at the drug store. They might just work.

Lighting also becomes more important as our eye age, check it out so you don't have too much glare on your keyboard.

Just a few helpful ideas from the old lady... Whatever you do, DON;T GIVE UP THE COMPUTER! (OHHHH, did I say THAT?)
Fondly,
JUDYdoh
