Ill look for your thread - thanks - but it may be a bit of a no hoper to go for lessons - a few christmasses ago, I did 4 courses for about 16 people, cooked alone and got it all on the table with time to sit and chat too - I can cook ok and would probably want to do it differently to how I was being taught laugh

the cooking with other people is worth thinking about though thumbs up

I agree, they are so much better if you do them with a home made garam masala and fresh ingredients arent they?

haha, you have discovered one of my sneakies too, the baked beans instead of kidney beans - its something i do with a bit of leftover spag bol, beans n a few more spices

Please will you send me the sweet n sour rec. I cheat and use the uncle bens with extra pineapple thumbs up

Hi Trish, like the new pic!

I hate eating the same thing on two consecutive days and really dislike eating leftovers that have been frozen so I had to find a way to keep eating without killing my appetite.

When I food shop I repackage everything into single serving sizes before putting it away. That way I can start fresh with something new everyday. If I have company or am cooking for more than one I just defrost extra packets.

I usually cook cook one day a week, that's usually the meats a pot of soup and cut some veggies up place in a bag,. a lot of cooking is prep as anyone knows . I usually cook the stuff then refridgerate / freeze it, its a snap when needed. its a challenge to cook for one person and not be wasteful.

Hi BB, thanks for pic. comp. ! there are more of my holiday on my profile, all of the Scottish Highlands - it was amazing.

I have just come back from the supermarket with a bag of prepared salad as buying the ingredients seperately I would be eating the same thing for a month - the bag will last a couple of days so its just as well its one i love - I agree with you, its good to re-package before freezing thumbs up

I dont know about where you live but here, all the small fishmongers and green grocers have given way to the huge supermarkets and their overpackaged, identically sized/grown goods - its all so boring. I love to cook for a few people but seldom do - its much more interesting.

So true Fireliter and I hate throwing food away - one thing I do is, whenever I make a curry I save some then can have a curry night with lots of different dishes - I like your idea of a pot of soup, portions of that can be frozen too - you sound like a pretty good cook, I dont know many people who make their own soup - I make a mean pea and ham soup, in fact Im almost glad winter is coming on and its nearly time for a batch of that thumbs up

Hi Trishwave Since a huge tesco store opened right next to where i work i,m hooked on the reduced items fridge, (i call it the poor peoples fridge). Every day at around 5 they reduce everything by 50% and as i finish work at 5 its just too tempting. Love to cook a nice curry though every now and again. grin

I just make whatever I feel like, then put rest in the refrigerator. My roommates will usually eat whatever is in there now.

I always like making anything with fresh veggies. I guess it all depends on what they have at the market. I bought a bunch of eggplants yesterday, so looks like a lot of my meals will include eggplant this week. YUM!

As for quick to prepare meals, I always like a homemade pizza, maybe stir fry. Easy stuff.

Special meals? I roasted a duck last week. So good. applause

As a tourist destination most of the supermarkets here cater to our visitors but there are still vendors who sell vegetables (home grown) from trays and small kiosks. And the fishing boats come in at the fish markets with a fresh catch. Requires a bit of a drive but it is worth it!

I just love cooking. Plus, it is one more way to treat myself well.

I saw the other pics., nice. Glad you had a good time.hug

I love to cook for my kids when they visit but when I'm alone I'd rather either go to a neighborhood diner or buy those chunky soups, make sandwiches or ragout in a Crockpot, smells nice all day...

sounds as if you have a bunch of very lucky room-mates Kev. I love stir fry's yum and so quick to make as you say - almost quicker than waiting for a delivery - god, i wish there was a mothwatering emoticon thinking of that duck laugh

BB, the trip for the fresh fish sounds wonderful - I was watching the boats coming in at Cromarty last week and thought what a wonderful way to live thumbs up

Uni - the sausage dish sounds so good - Im gonna give that one a go - I was sold when you mentioned the Greek cheese and I suppose a few olives would be ok too - the method of slowcooking to remove the fat is good, I never cook anything in oil but do as you say, slowly and all its own fats run out
- I like sausage casserole too, lots of onions and mushrooms wine

Crockpots are such a good invention Mystic arent they - its good when you have to go out for the day to come home to a hot meal already made thumbs up

When I'm alone, I like to make myself some Rice A Roni (a cup full), a small salad, and maybe a couple of chicken strips. It's simple and healthy in small portions.
